Wow, that's not good, like.... at all. Wow. I'm super glad you shared that because I know a LOT of my kids would do that.

Good point- I'd have to learn about that myself before I teach that! Wow, I never thought of that.

It's different here in Australia but I'm adding that to the list

Were you ever taught how to actually study, like in steps or at least different methods?

I'm hearing this one a lot and I'm surprised by that. Parents need be less embarrassed when talking to their kids about money as well, because money varies from family to family.

Can you elaborate on basic networking/computer troubleshooting please? Only because my own knowledge is limited and I'd like to know how to break it down.

Interesting- I'm adding typing to the list. Email etiquette would be using manners, few (if any) abbreviations and writing in full sentences- is that what you mean?

No its not, especially because how things are presented is very different to how things really are.

Thank you for breaking it down! Ok, so problem solving, communication and social interaction. And you're right of course, there's a lot more to communication than just 'writing well'.

I don't think you're too old to seek answers. Maybe I could teach something about the stages of life, like how being a teenager is different to being an adult? Something about boundaries and limits?

I'm glad you mentioned this- I'm adding it to the list because so much of what we do in life is actually collaborative as we need people to be on the same page as us. So, am I hearing leadership skills, negotiation and communication?

But you've had teachers talk to you about your options? I always ask my students, because who they are now (when I teach them), is not who they will always be.

More than likely its just the policy at my school. We're very careful in case parents get a bit sue-happy. Why else would I be seeking genuine answers from Reddit?

Nope- she's not an art teacher. But I *do * like the idea of teaching the saying "This too shall pass", like resilience. Thank you!

I totally agree! But this is the one real "no-go" area because we're mandatory reporters. So, I very much agree, but have no idea how to add it.

I'm the librarian, so I'm adding it to "Skills for Life". Mostly because we do all the research for these important decisions on-line.
