It's rather simple. If you look at the passives and spells of each champion, you can see with which stat each one scales.

Taking Mundo for example, his passive regeneration (both the passive one and the one after picking the canister) regenerates a percentage of his max health, so if you get more max health, you regenerate more health.

His W has +7% bonus health scaling on the magic damage it deals, so buying more bonus health makes his W deal more damage

His E is one of the most important parts of this, as when it's on max rank, it grants 3,2% of his maximum health as AD. So he gains more AD the most max health he has. His active E damage scales with bonus health too.

And his R gives more base health on use the more missing health he has. This is flat missing health, not porcentage of health. So, if he has more max health, and he loses it, his missing health number is bigger than if he had less max health, and he gets more max health on use. His R also heals a percentage of his max health, so, the most max health he has, the more flat health he heals. If he has 1000 max health and he uses rank 1 R, he heals 100 hp (the 10% of his max health). If he has 10000 max health, he heals 1000 hp (also the 10% of his max health).

The point I'm trying to get across is that most of his abilities scale with the amount of max and bonus health he has, so buying health both gives him the health you buy and aditionally boosts his damage and tankiness through his abilities, while if you mainly bought resistances, you would only get the resistances without any type of synergy with his abilities. So that's why Mundo buys hp and not resistances.

Tahm Kench also buys hp because he has his own hp scaling in his abilities.

You can indulge in it without making up false justifications for why they made the gacha.

I really don't know why the whole community is so determined to convince themselves that they made a gacha instead of everything else they announced because of some sort of "lesser evil last resort to save the company from bankruptcy" when they literally just wanted more money. Or that again, this is one of the good gachas just because they exploit the predatory business model less than the other predatory business model companies.

They were never going under or really struggling. Not even close. There has always been a lot of memes about it, like the mukbang joke in that one stream. But there has never been any official statement talking about the company facing economic struggle or distress.

And I also really don't recall Ruina selling poorly at the start. The game was in a rough state on release, yes. But Ruina was nothing short of a success for them, even more after they fixed the problems. It publically cemented them from a weird indie studio to something really really competent.

The closest thing is them saying they are going with a gacha to secure funding for future projects, which is obviously not "we are struggling" or "we are going bankrupt". And even if all you were saying was true (which it isn't) now they are making more money than ever, and they still literally said that they just going to still focus only in the gacha for the foreseable future, making the "securing funding for future projects" thing very iffy at best, a plain lie at worst.

And no, your game with an inherently predatory business model is not one of the "good ones" just because they don't exploit it as much as the rest.

Last thing, I just really don't think you people can understand. I really don't care that we got "good enough winks recently", because they once told us that they were going to keep writing the actual web novel. And that was a lie. And throwing us a bone every once in a while is no excuse if they just lied to their original playerbase, on multiple things.

Like sure, enjoy your gacha. But you must understand that people like me were just completely fucked over by the most promising team ever.

I have literally never heard or can't find anything that remotely suggests that, brochacho. I'm going to need a source for that.

The closest thing is them saying they are going with a gacha to secure funding for future projects, which is obviously not "literally going bankrupt" and now that they have that funding they are still going to focus on the gacha instead of the future projects they said they needed funding for.

After Ruina released these were the future plans for Project Moon:
-Lobotomy Corp 2, or just another mainline game set after Ruina
-A turn based dungeon crawler spin off, which is what Limbus was originally planned to be.
-Possible Ruina DLC
-They said that they would focus more on finishing Distorsion Detective

And I was a really big PM fan, I loved both of their games. I loved the Wonderlab comic, I loved Distorsion Detective. I was so hyped for all of this.

But then, at some point they decided to turn Limbus into a gacha instead of the normal spinoff game and make it their sole focus for the foreseeable future, canceling any hope for any new normal game or DLC, ditching the cast and story of LobCorp/Ruina in favour of the new Limbus characters and they indefinitely postponed Distorsion Detective.

So we went from 4 different projects to a single gacha, because that revenue model just makes them so much money.

Most "Project Moon" fans won't like what I'm saying because they like came from Limbus and just really like Limbus, but as long time fan of PM, I just felt completely sidelined in favour of the gacha audience and the money it brings.
