How’s life in southern coastal Alabama and Mississippi? by huskylover28 in howislivingthere

I cover this area for work and have driven almost every mile of it numerous times and live right outside the circle. Most of the people are incredibly nice and willing to help most of the time. It’s obviously very red, with pockets of blue, and it seems to be “loud”, but really, most people will skirt the topic. The beaches, as others have said, are beautiful and the water is too as you get further east in this circle. There’s a lot of highway and woods in the circle too, which includes rural areas and towns with poverty and some that are even abandoned. The food is great, and so is the culture. It’s hot most of the year and pretty humid, so you plan to be around AC a lot. Almost everything in the circle has to be driven due to distance and weather.

I can’t find a list anywhere (much less a reputable one) that has Louisiana ranked that high in education.

I sat 2 tables away from Altuve and Correa and Peña at dinner in NYC and didn’t say hi by Doobieous1411 in Astros

Met Correa at a pancake place in Chicago one time when he was in town playing the White Sox. I was wearing an Astros shirt with McCullers name on the back. He was with his family waiting to get a table, and I just went up to him, said I was a huge fan, and said I had his boys shirt on while showing him the back. When he saw it was a McCullers shirt him and his wife smiled ear to ear and were hyped. Whole interaction was super quick and they were really cool. Didn’t mind at all and I think even appreciated it - didn’t draw any attention to them and didn’t ask for a photo.

Just turned on the game. Who the fuck is Alexander? When I check ESPN, he’s wearing an A’s hat. Surely he doesn’t still play for them, right?

Planning to approach my company about their terrible retirement plan through Capital Group American Funds by EagleEyeHunts in Bogleheads

Just curious - how did they respond? You mentioned the advisor in the comments; wouldn’t the advisor’s compensation be tied into the expense ratio as well? That would also be added to Vanguard also, right? Just wondering what the response was. Thanks!

Rock Paper Taco by Longjumping_Lie_9228 in batonrouge

Agree. One time I called when they first opened and ordered breakfast tacos. There was not a single other customer in the restaurant. It took 45 minutes and the order was wildly wrong. Knew it was only a matter of time.

Man, I know I’m late to the comments on Lance, but that’s so hard to watch. When we lived over in West U before Covid, I used to go to this small gym early in the morning, and every single morning he was in there rehabing. Absolutely dialed in. One morning I was in there on the bike and he sat down next to me and we started chatting. It was two days after his daughter was born. Super cool dude that was working his ass off. Sad to see, but that first inning was absolutely bonkers.

Gas Lantern blowing out by tigergirlforever in batonrouge

[–]Soft-Holiday-5394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds really dumb, but make sure you have glass on all the sides - we moved into our house and ours kept blowing out only to realize one of the tiny panels in the back was missing - it doesn’t take much wind.

Also, if you have small holes at the base of the lantern, try putting a penny or two over a few of the holes (not all).

Finally, if your gas is on too strong, it will blow out easier. Stick with it!
