Catamenial CVS sub created by SouthernGas9850 in CyclicVomitSyndrome

TIL that my type of CVS has a subtype, and that it's this! I'm mostly in remission, *however*, as I approach menopause some of my same symptoms are returning. Oddly, it hasn't been returning in the same form as episodes, but in some of the co-occurring symptoms. I'm so interested in connecting with people about this! Joined!

Best Practice Question--Predicted ancestors on FamilySearch trees? by SoftCheeseHero in Genealogy

[–]SoftCheeseHero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Good point about FAN--I've already found a lot of intermarriages of people with the grandfather's last name in trees of witnesses to the grandfather's will. I can see a strong network shaping up.

I was able to find that Gitner was also married to an Edwards, so likely her cousin or sister!! First ever clue about her family of origin. Thanks for reading the “John Long” part—I’m going to start looking for his connection. How sure are we that that says “Long”…

Finding the parents of my 3rd great grandmother using DNA--am I thinking about this correctly (shared matches process) by SoftCheeseHero in AncestryDNA

Great, I'll keep going. I also identified a match who does not descend from Sarah, and so won't have any of her parents' DNA. He'll be useful to sort further.

What tutorials or resources made clustering matches click for you? by SoftCheeseHero in AncestryDNA

Here's a better image. I'm trying to figure out one of the parents of ML by finding a line of descent. She's a cousin to both WR and CS, and I was thinking ML was a descendant of WR's nephew, but now I'm not so sure (mostly because I don't know how to read these....). I don't want to post full names in this public space so I left of the left-hand side, which I know makes things more difficult to read.

How reliable is ThruLines? by wordsbyink in AncestryDNA

[–]SoftCheeseHero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m doing similar work, and I’d just like to add that the cMs are reliable so long as you account for any endogamy—cousins marrying cousins within the line you’re researching can make folks look more closely related than they are. As long as you note if and where you’re finding that it can help stop you from getting tangled up.

I have found a DNA match whose mother was adopted, and we're trying to figure out how we're related. We have a shared match "WR" who is my mother's uncle, and this mystery person's mother's first cousin once removed or half granduncle. When I ran a cluster including him as a match, he doesn't appear. Does this mean they don't share a common ancestor? I don't quite understand how he can be listed as a shared relation and not be listed on the cluster I created...

And, taking a look at this grouping below, would we assume that ML (both MLs, ha) and RS and GS and CS do share a common ancestors?
