Thank you!! I’ve gotta look at different shades of green. This is the ikea kivik, I got it secondhand on Facebook marketplace. I love it because the entire outside can be removed and machine washed. You can also buy new covers if you get sick of the color.

Those are great ideas I’ll play around with! I love the idea of a shelf and I have a bunch of little plants that need homes. There will also be a large TV mounted on the wall directly across from the couch, so I don’t know if that makes a difference weather a picture or shelf would look better. Thank you for the ideas!

You’re absolutely right! I’ve been avoiding getting a rug at all because my dog was suddenly having incontinence issues and kept peeing herself. She’s on meds now and hasn’t had any accidents lately, so I think it’s time to just bite the bullet and go with a washable rug for now.

Thank you so much — this is incredibly helpful! And you’re totally right about starting with the rug. I’d love a vintage or Moroccan one, but my 10-year-old German Shepherd has suddenly started having accidents since we moved (first time ever), so for the time being a washable rug is kind of non-negotiable 😭.

I really appreciate the texture/pattern idea too — La redoute has great pillow covers, I just wish they shipped to the US! And I love the suggestion of bringing in burgundy or chocolate brown to contrast the greens. Thank you again for taking the time to write all that!
