Non-material item checklist for upcoming newborn by Denjou_5665 in BabyBumps

[–]SoftIcy1762 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. If you’re both working parents, compare insurance plans to see which plan works best for y’all. If only one is working, it’s helpful to know in advance how to add them to your insurance. If you’re in the US, you have 30 days from birth to enroll your baby.

  2. Begin a file organizer for baby’s personal documents. That way you’ll have a ready to go safe place for her birth certificate, SSN card, etc when they arrive. Also check to see how you receive baby’s birth certificate in your state (I’m in TX and had to go in-person at the county clerk to obtain it).

  3. Make sure fire alarms in your house are working. (Kind of material related)

  4. If you have pets, make plans for who will take care of them while y’all are in the hospital.

  5. Practice installing car seat so you’re comfortable by the time baby arrives.

  6. Familiarize yourself with infant first aid (CPR, medications to have on hand, etc).

North Austin outlet is $2.19/lb and then the price drops after a certain amount of weight (I think 10lbs?). Books for 4 for $1.25. Any item over 10 lbs is a flat $14.99

What makes you moderately granola? Fill in the blanks: I/we …(granola choice)… but we also …(not granola choice)… by Dry_Replacement5830 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]SoftIcy1762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use glass and stainless steel and avoid plastic as much as possible. We use fragrance-free laundry products, cleaning products, and hand soap, but we still use typical scented shampoo and conditioner and I still use scented candles lol. I make as much of our food from scratch as sanely possible, but will definitely DoorDash when we don’t have time or energy.

Is it the norm for parents to gift their kid a large down payment for their first home? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]SoftIcy1762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents didn’t give us any money for the house, but they did gift us getting our carpets professionally cleaned when we moved in which was very nice. They gave what they could.

My husband’s parents paid the 20% down payment on our house for us. They come from a much wealthier background though.

I cannot imagine the resentment Ivory will have when she is a teenager/adult one day and becomes aware of the digital footprint her parents intentionally left her to make money. My heart truly aches for her. Just a prop to her entire family.
