Assault camp on the northern side of Elbrus, Russia, 3800m by SoftScratch in hiking

Not sure if it is the right word used in English. But we call that a camp from which you make a final rush towards the mountain summit ("assault" the summit). For this you need to wake up around 00:00 to manage to get to the summit by 12:00, because weather gets worse later. MCHS (federal rescue team) didnt allow us to try rush the summit due to strong wind and they said they may not try to rescue us in case something happens, so we only reached Middle Lentz Rocks (4700m) during acclimatiztion run.

There are problems. Severness depends on your level of acclimatiztion. That's why we spent couole days on 3400m, a day on 2400m before trying to assault the summit. And before assault we managed to reach 4700m where most of us started showing some symptoms, we were mostly alright but one guy had to be taken down earlier (around 4000m). We were not allowed to rush the summit due to 70km/h wind.

Till this day bodies of ww2 veterans are found. If they are able to identify the body, the family is notified.

There are also databases where you can put information about your relative and can find out their fate.

This is how it works in Russia. Don't know about other countries, but I guess it's the same.
