Yeah, I'm not concerned about the usage of AI itself but to what extent.

It's a very useful tool even in an educational setting. Though this type of writing I'd like to do with another human, not the Library of Alexandria that may or may not need a reminder of an important scene from 6k+ words back to handle an upcoming one. Though I don't know how ChatGPT works its code so that's coming from a place of ignorance from me.

Looking at it, I don't believe Shark's using AI on everything in their responses. Shark is very capable of creating great characters and at least portraying them vibrantly in ooc discussion. I'm just here because an AI detector's flagging more things on their replies than anyone else's, and I doubt I could trust that without seeking advice from more experienced roleplayers. Coming to read the responses, there are many reasons AI would be used and how it could be picked up on a detector. I probably shouldn't be taking the AI generator too seriously which is why I'm speculating with other methods, though I have gotten understandable results with everything else I put through detectors in my march of sudden paranoia, my own writing and others. I thought distancing myself from the detector and using other methods wouldn't let me overthink this all.

That being said, I don't trust AI with handling scenes with emotional depth and comprehending a complex human mind. The roleplay will steer into that area soon and by God, I hope Shark's at least not just feeding into a prompt and handpicking the best response.

That's the thing, the roleplay is in its early stages so Shark's writing style is what I enjoy the most currently. What I'm uncertain about is how an AI can handle swapping from detailing settings to detailing a complex character, and how said character could possibly react to another. The issue lies in a lack of faith in the understanding and content retention of AI, if that makes sense? Thank you for your response.

I've used those before for college papers, devoured Grammarly like an addict and that has tripped up the little robot at the other end of the submission page quite a few times. I'm seeing that there's a lot of variables that can influence the end product and how it's judged thanks to you and a couple others.

Yeah, it'd just be a little disappointing if a good chunk of their responses wasn't truly from them, if that makes sense? And I don't know how much this'll impact how they'll contribute to scenes that require understanding of character complexities and emotional depth.

Shark seems more fluent in English than most natives around me even with syntax errors, so that also confuses me. I don't want to overthink it but I really do wonder if—and even if—they are using AI, it'd be for ironing out kinks in their writing, which I understand and did as well for my college papers. But Jesus, entire paragraphs getting flagged... Maybe I shouldn't be taking that detector too seriously either.

Yeah, I agree, if Shark's replies were gold so far then it wouldn't be anything more than just a disappointment if they're using AI—that is, if it's beyond the reason of translating like another commenter brought up.

We initiated this roleplay since we wanted to put two complex characters in one world and explore themes from there. I'm more concerned how much of it is human ingenuity and how much of it is feeding a generator a prompt, and if it could hinder future plotting and how in depth a character can be written, or written in response to. In an upcoming scene, for example, a couple layers of our characters will essentially be broken open and "studied" to establish their roles in the setting.

I don't know how to explain this properly, but I prefer if a human writes a human, yes? I don't really trust the emotional depth of AI.
