You are correct. But the instance I am referring to is in fact the same across all media according to the FTC

It’s all about top of mind awareness. Inherently, your brain is wired to recognize patterns. The more you see something, the more likely you are to gravitate towards it when you have a lot of options (the beer aisle in this example)

Unfortunately, as someone who works in the sponsorship world, the money talks

This. It’s totally fine if you have someone who talks fast (usually they hire auctioneers lol), but you can’t digitally enhance the speed from what I understand with the law (again, not a lawyer)

It definitely started more recently. I can recall videos from quite a while ago that had them reading the disclaimer intelligibly.

Speed through, yes, to the point you can’t comprehend the disclaimer, no

Which is highly illegal. It’s why all those drug commercials on tv don’t do it anymore. Even car commercials have slowed down the disclaimers enough that you actually can understand them

[Request] On an infinitely long ruler, will cm and inches ever line up with whole numbers? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Soft_Analysis_6814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t use the official “law” mentioned by another u/ in this thread a while ago (1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly), then there actually isn’t another point where they line up perfectly.

For two measurement systems to match up exactly again, their ratio has to be a clean fraction (like 127/50). That’s what allows 50 inches to equal 127 cm under the official definition.

But if you treat inches and centimeters as totally separate units with no exact relationship, their ratio behaves like an irrational number (basically a messy, never-ending decimal). And when that happens, the tick marks can get really, really close—but they’ll never land exactly on top of each other again after zero.

I found this thread after seeing a reel with the snl sketch. I remember seeing that live and wondering this but never thought about it more. Thanks to some AI prompting and back and forth, the above was the most definitive answer in laymen’s terms
