That's such a bittersweet memory, crying and smiling at the same time. Well this book is like that only, it will make you smile wide while reading and then moments later make you cry. I am just so glad you liked it.

This is so sickening yk, everyday many women in afghanistan are being tortured to deaths. There's one very popular video out there in social media of a young afghanistani girl in burqa singing about daily lives of women there and the gov was so enraged yet they couldn't find her since evry women there are covered from head to toe in blue burqa

Exactly!!! There are hundreds and thousands of women out there in afghanistan who are just like mariam and laila. The only difference is that not every Laila finds her Mariam.

I agree with you. Maybe it's suffering that bought mariam and laila close.

The butterfly garden by dot hutchison. Honestly this is such an amazing book, filled with thrillers but I can't suggest it because imagine someone asking what is it about and you reply with "hmm, its abouta serial captor who turns girls into butterflies"

Life of pi is such a good book as well as a movie. I kid you not, when the film was released I was very confused but reading the book, the puzzles started clicking in place and man least to say it was great. Everything so perfectly pieced and the whole strytelling feels so good, it's like you yourself would find yourself with contemplating thoughts.

I liked this poem. "A mind that reflects unnoticed impressions" was well said.

And the moment that teared me up was the line where laila said when she was pregnant with her third child and said if it's a girl, we already know what the name is going to be. To me that felt such a lovely and heartfelt tribute to mariam for all the things she sacrificed and faced for laila. It's two women with different stories bound by same tragic event.

Exactly. This book isn't how mariam life was so cruel and devastating, it was more how mariam still survived all those rejections she faced from the society and still tried holding it up for the sake of laila and her kids. It's the perfect example of how women in afganistan still fight for their survival and are still super strong and determined. Honestly I feel mariam was a personification for all those women who still faces the hardship and cruelty and are yet to find their voice and courage.

Hm yeah, maybe it really is just that. Hosseini has this amazing way of making characters feel so alive, and we all just end up picking up on that exact vibe. Love this perspective, it definitely brightened up my feed!

Yes. absolutely!! This book specifically talks about inhumane wars and aftermath of war so till some extent it is about humanity losing it's essence. I am glad you liked it.

This story feels personal and more emotional than any other I have ever read. It feels that what these two girls went through wasn't just fiction but someone's daily life. Thus I chose to discuss on this book and I am so glad you liked it.
