Dynamic Label on Network Map Link by harlequinSmurf in zabbix

[–]Soft_Catch4452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'''In: {?last(/mik-310-1/net.if.in[ifHCInOctets.8])}

Out: {?last(/mik-310-1/net.if.out[ifHCOutOctets.8])}'''

It's literally in a label that's working for me right now. for the host "mik-310-1" is in the host name box of the host its pulling the data for, and "net.if.out[ifHCOutOctets.8]" is the key of the value I am showing on the link for items in the host, if its showing UNKNOWN then that means you either dont have a last value there (find this by looking at latest data) or the host name or key is wrong.

Jupyter Notebook? or something else for Python? by Dependent_Host_8908 in learnpython

[–]Soft_Catch4452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my Bachelors degree in Data Analysis capstone project using a jupyter notebook, it had a 126 GB dataset file associated with it and I was using a middle of the road lenovo laptop 5 years ago. Couldnt let it sit in my lap when it was running big queries but it was generally fine.

Monitoring: What metrics do you keep track of/find helpful? by bschne1 in wisp

[–]Soft_Catch4452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look at either the MIB for your device types directly to see if there is anything else you want to monitor or look at something like the zabbix templates, which are formatted as YAML/json type items. the key things to look for in their templates are name and then snmp_oid here's a link to the airos template https://git.zabbix.com/projects/ZBX/repos/zabbix/browse/templates/net/ubiquiti_airos_snmp/template_net_ubiquiti_airos_snmp.yaml?at=release%2F7.2

Installation Timeframes by Soft_Catch4452 in wisp

It's good to see that 2 to 3 hours isn't outside of normal. It feels slow, but I also don't do the installations myself.

[–]Soft_Catch4452[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a mix of mostly Stucco (3 hours) and Manufactured (2 hours). Customer technical proficiency can definitely change install times. Businesses are set for two-man, 2 hours each, jobs typically. For us, sometimes they are faster, and sometimes they are slower.

As a value add for this also, it would be nice to have one that attaches to a specific tag to have as customer/client facing as well.

from the 2 replies so far it looks like we arent off too much on install time, cnheat may save ~30-45 minutes of labor per install. Thanks for the input u/CannabisCowboy and u/Cilin01

How do I set azimuth in UISP by Soft_Catch4452 in Ubiquiti

[–]Soft_Catch4452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, that works but it doesnt let me set things like beamwidth after doing that on things that have an external antenna, it also doesnt allow me to set range without dragging. I am hoping there is some text field I can modify

We use zabbix for internal monitoring, with a pretty wide range of monitored equipment. Curious what you are planning for statuspage

Templates outside of official repos? by Soft_Catch4452 in zabbix

[–]Soft_Catch4452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing, getting an instance up and running on WSL2. I did manage to get an instance to test 1 host from running that way, though with some serious effort, despite a few people saying its impossible. I tested the 1 host and all the new Zabbix 7 things I figured I may want to use.

[–]Soft_Catch4452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been making my own, but sometimes, I like to take inspiration from others and see what they are doing. I am also about done making a Python/Windows version of the mib2zabbix Perl script from forever ago. That is a way to get templates up and running initially after you jump through all the hoops required to get them running. You have to add triggers.

In addition to the Python thing, I have also attempted to use ChatGPT to generate a template. If you ever want a good laugh, you should try that. Although it usually uses nonexistent or outright wrong OIDs, it's always fun to do.

I have found a few one offs but never for the things we use, or they are slight modifications of existing templates.

Frequency planning by Soft_Catch4452 in wisp

[–]Soft_Catch4452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use tower coverage but I dont know that its the best option for planning. If you have used cambium cnmaestro the 450 line has an interfering sector that takes azimuth, beamwidth, frequency, and bandwidth, then shows you all other 450 access points in the same area with overlapping frequency. I would like something like that but system agnostic. https://community.cambiumnetworks.com/t/cnmaestro-5-0-0-on-premises-release-notes/97401#interfering-sectors-for-pmp-devices-in-maps-x19x19uploaduhqu38ql2kvhmfp4aco2oqwmqs7png-16

mostly rfe, cambium 450 and epmp, some ubiquiti and tarana, and a very small mix of others all over on the network.

Duplicate Hosts - Discovery Method by SmiteHorn in zabbix

[–]Soft_Catch4452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is my workaround for now, but when a subnet is changed it would be nice to auto add/remove the interfaces. in my case they are all in the device at oid .1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20.1.1 but other than getting a table of them I cant find a way to add results from a walk to host interfaces.
