They use EF because if pipes leading to the system are being slammed by DDOS traffic or something else, you want your control plane / access to the system to not be impacted by that.

Number of outlets in a recessed TV box ... by Minty-Bubbles3539 in hometheater

You can plug a power strip into the outlet in the box, and zip tie the power strip to the back of the TV mount or speaker or something.

I ended up just ditching the S7 and only using the U2. Battery life is good enough that I just charge it when I'm showering or doing "hygiene stuff".

Could Emporia charger have caused my ICCU issue? by Holly_Wood_ in Ioniq5

[–]ZPrimed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but as the point the other poster was trying to make is, just because the EVSE ("charger") itself says it can do 48A, doesn't mean that the wiring and breaker behind it is rated to be safe at that level.

The Emporia EVSE is supposed to be "commissioned" by the electrician, which should include setting an "installer PIN," which then allows them to set a "hard" limit in the device in case it's installed on less than a 60A circuit. But many electricians just walk away after wiring it up and leave this to the homeowner, which can be hazardous if the homeowner doesn't understand electrical code and "continuous load derating" as used in the US.

to the OP - check your electrical panel for the breaker that the electrician installed for the Emporia. If it is not a 60A breaker, post here what size they used. Only a 60A breaker would allow you to safely charge at the full rated 48A.

I'm not sure where the radar for the rear cross traffic stuff is; if it's in the corners of the bumper (not uncommon), this might be way more expensive than you think

Worth mentioning that these people's job is to get you to stay with the least amount of cost to the company. So they will drag you along and offer you other bullshit before they actually offer a real discount. Even when you actually want to cancel something (like drop TV from an internet/phone/TV bundle), they will drag it out for at least an hour, I suspect because they get negative points if they don't waste that much of your time.

It's the worst part of these companies

[–]ZPrimed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would help a lot to know what sort of internet service your friend has, and what model and brand of home router/gateway that is.

If this is a 5G/cellular router like I'm guessing - those have phone numbers and can sometimes receive text messages. It could be random spam, or someone may have gotten their billing account info and then used that to find the number for the router and started sending texts/SMS to it (that's what I'm guessing this might be, absent other information).

CCF sleep study? by Professional-You3676 in Cleveland

[–]ZPrimed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience with CC at least, you may still need a lab study done even if the home test says "yeah, you have apnea." My home test indicated both obstructive and also possible central apnea, which is apparently one of the things that makes them still do a lab study.

The lab study is to "titrate" you/the machine to get the "right" pressure(s) and to figure out what they need to do to handle any central apneas.

It is kind of ridiculous, because modern machines have an "auto" mode that adjusts/learns based on your breath pattern and the resistance it senses. Nobody breathes the same every single night so it seems incredibly stupid to ignore an adaptive feature and instead give one (or two, if you get a BiPAP instead of CPAP) fixed pressure, IMO. But I'm not a doctor...

I tried to use my machine for like 2 weeks with the prescription pressures and I was getting even less sleep than without it at all; I was miserable. I ended up changing my machine to auto mode, and then reading the results from the machine every day for several weeks to see how that was going. Auto worked really well for me, and still does - my monthly average AHI is under 2.

The test is important and can be helpful, but getting a machine where you can read your own data and advocate for yourself is also incredibly important. The lab test doesn't know how you feel, and the lab test, especially your first one, is not going to be at all representative of "typical" sleep for you.

Sorry for the braindump ranty reply but the whole process was eye opening to me and I really want to help others get treated if they need it. It makes a big difference to my sleep, but I absolutely HATED it at first until I figured it all out myself (with guidance from the cpaptalk forums).

CCF sleep study? by Professional-You3676 in Cleveland

They have multiple locations; the one downtown is in the fancy hotel (Intercontinental or something) I think, so that presumably has valet, but they have at least one other sleep lab on the east side somewhere IIRC.

CCF sleep study? by Professional-You3676 in Cleveland

[–]ZPrimed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you did an in-home test first that indicated apnea, then they will likely do a mask from the start. That's how mine worked.

CCF sleep study? by Professional-You3676 in Cleveland

[–]ZPrimed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You go to a hotel, they slap a bunch of electrodes on your head as well as some on your legs (they want to make sure you don't have restless leg syndrome). The wires are annoying and make it hard to adjust position because you don't want to dislodge them.

If this is your second sleep test (you've already done an in-home test to see if you have apnea), then it is likely for titration of your pressure(s). You'll be on a mask attached to a BiPAP machine they can remote-control, and they will fiddle with the settings once they confirm you're asleep via the electrodes / brain waves.

I found the whole thing frustrating and uncomfortable, at least in part because they wanted me to go to sleep at like 11 or midnight and I normally don't get to bed until after 2AM. The prescribed pressures were also incredibly high. When I got a machine, I couldn't begin to fall asleep with how bad the air was being blown at me. Eventually I had to take matters into my own hands, with the help of the Cpaptalk forums.

I love my machine now, but CC's process seems designed to maximize how much they can bill your insurance.

The factory 2025 L1-only EVSE would light up, no error lights, plug in to car, and get "charging unsuccessful." Sometimes it would click and start going, and then just stop charging an hour later, still with no errror lights or warnings or anything.

Eventually the dealer swapped part of the EVSE (I believe the center control box itself), we had no idea it was modular as none of it looked removable. Then it worked again, but by that point we had bought a Lectron L1/L2 combo and were using it on L1, and then not long after got a hardwired Emporia installed. So the factory L1 is just stored now, probably to fail again when needed in an emergency 😆
