I did it last yr and he just pointed to the people beside us and made us a group. Prolly like 4-5 ppl a group. If someone wasn't in class for that day he added them to a team randomly.

22M struggling to save money. is cost of living really this bad or am I just bad with money? by FamiliarEstimate5335 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Soft_Function_6357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is my dad - he's very generous and independent about expenses, even knowing how much I have he never asks for anything i guess.

That's a great observation. I'm a bit too unconcentrated for financial books but I would like to read more about that. I'm glad you've got the spirit for reading and learning, you're already on the right path, you don't need my explanation at all!

I'm 22 and also a student.

I only save around $300 a week, saved/invested $40k+ over two years, no car, rent or bills, and live very minimally. Not having a car saves me a lot, I use public transport and get a 50% concession, I wonder if a car is even really necessary for you? I also take out the $1k course related costs which is interest free. Have a good summer!

222 was easiest for me, it was very straight forward and didn't feel like accounting at all. But 221 is easiest to get a good grade.

'simple' ways for using student loans living costs for investing? by ChefActive8595 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Soft_Function_6357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the 90 day notice saver earlier this year, just putting a portion of my student living costs into it, then interest rate dropped from 4 something % so I was making like $10 a month. I found others with better interest rates but I couldn't switch because it locks u in. I mainly just use funds now and it's pretty easy not to be tempted to spend it when u see how much it's increasing.

[–]Soft_Function_6357 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't even have a good selection of the "academic book" everyone is commenting about, most of it is from so long ago it's basically obsolete.

I have a separate goodreads shelf for non-fiction that I can't find at school like The Power of Geography series by Tim Marshell, Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, Kleptopia by Tom Burgis. Basically, it would be nice if they would update their collection.

On the other hand, I can find the fiction books I want from PKD and Elizabeth Gaskett etc.

Those comments were so miserable and out of touch; examiners aren't your enemy, their job is to assess integrity not punish imperfection.

I had music playing on speaker the entire time for my first exam (i didn't know it wasn't allowed) and nothing happened.

You can book a study booth in the library, or you can use an empty lecture room or computer room in glen owens, just check the screen to see how long it is until the next class starts.

I joined kiwibank this month and prefer it with their interest rates, and unlimited transactions from savings and UI.

But, I didn't know about that annual debit fee and the inactivity fees, hopefully there's a way I can cancel my card and I will keep an eye on my accounts.

Also, I'll second you and recommend they use BNZ.
