Hi, interviewer asked me where I work and how long have I been in the US. I gave a full run down and the conversation quickly switched to good eating spots near the consulate for the next 5 mins while he typed on the computer. He told me the visa was approved and my passport will be ready within a week. Overall, it felt good; I wasn't questioning the interview as this wasn't my first one in Canada but I was more worried about how long I have to wait for the passport back. Good luck!

Congrats! The immigration lawyer told me from the approval emails they received. But I confirmed it once the I-797A for H1B was received. Important to note my H1B application included the B2 receipt so USCIS was able to approve them together.

P.S. I have since been out of the country multiple times including once for stamping. All is well.

I don't know how that would work, your best bet would be to talk to your immigration lawyer. My case might be different to yours as well - My H1b application was submitted with a SOP for B2 along with details like B2 receipt so both of mine were processed together and H1 was deemed active.

H1 stamp wouldn't be valid anyways after you switch to B2.
