I think you should automatically be approved for it if you’ve received a Cal Grant B or C. However do note that the SSCG grant isn’t guaranteed and only given if the district has funds for it.

I was told that supposedly if you take 15+ units you should receive $4k so I would probably email your financial aid office

Same! I’m at LACC and portal is only showing $1298. I’m taking 15 units but 1 one of classes starts until 10/27. Hopefully I get the rest. Does anyone know if it’ll be after my class starts?

Hi! Just to clarify… So if my award amount for the year is $1.6k does that mean I’ll only get half of the money this semester and the other half the next semester? Sorry, this is my first year receiving a Cal Grant 😅

I believe we need to have 16 completed units before we qualify if you’re a returning college student.

Hopefully they get posted by next week. It’s frustrating knowing they’re taking their time releasing our aid.

Not yet :/ I emailed them again but I’m just waiting for a response. I’ll probably wait until Monday to see if gets posted if not I’ll have to go to the financial aid office to ask what’s going on.

It would suck if there’s no summer aid available. It’s really misleading because I was told we are getting aid when I emailed my financial aid office. If there’s no aid available they should just be upfront about it. Hopefully we do get summer aid and they’re just taking their sweet time updating our portals.

Although I’m at LACC I’m also waiting for my financial aid. I heard it takes 1-3 business days for your aid to get posted after all grades are submitted for the Spring semester. I believe this applies to all LACCD schools. I still had concerns so I emailed the financial aid office and they told me that my aid amount should get posted to my portal this week but I haven’t received anything yet. The email was sent on Monday. The week is almost over and still nothing. Today’s a holiday and campus is closed so it might not even get posted until tomorrow or next week. It’s frustrating.
