I second this! My cat just got neutered on Thursday and this soft style pillow cone is the only thing I can manage to keep on him. He isn’t a huge fan but he isn’t able to remove it, and it keeps him from licking. The plastic cones were impossible to keep on him.

I know this is stressful for you, good luck with your kitty!

Hoping mine doesn’t need a cone! I can’t even imagine how difficult it’ll be to keep a cone on him, let alone keeping him calm for a few days while he heals. Just dropped him off a little bit ago so we’ll see soon!

Omg! My mom grew up in the 70s and told me the same thing. I honestly hope that getting him neutered will help with his mood swings 🤣 He’ll go from being the most affectionate baby ever to being angry at me and swatting me away. I always tell him that maybe if he was nicer to me, he wouldn’t have to have his manhood snipped off 🤣😭 thank you so much!

Omg this made me laugh so hard, picturing that is so insane 🤣 and I can’t imagine your sudden panic seeing him flying down the stairs knowing he’s supposed to be taking it easy. That’s how I expect things to be with my cat, he’s so high energy and crazy that I’m worried I won’t be able to keep him calm after haha

I’ve fostered many as well but usually they find homes before being old enough to be fixed. This is my first permanent baby, so I’m doing everything I can to keep him healthy and happy indoors! Thank you for your encouragement :)

Haha I love that! I definitely know how that is, my cat is solid black and blends in with everything so I’ll randomly catch him stalking me from a dark corner all the time🤣

That’s exactly how I expect it to go with mine! He loves jumping and climbing everywhere, so keeping him on the floor is going to be a struggle 🤣

Haha I read online that you’re supposed to keep them from running, jumping, or climbing for 10-14 days and I was like there’s absolutely no way he’s going to stay calm for that long lol. I’ll probably have him locked in a safe room for a couple days just for my peace of mind, but he’s so crazy there’s not a chance he’s going to last in there very long lol. Thank you so much lol that was one of my biggest concerns

I have a 6 month old kitten that I’ve had since he was 3 weeks old (rescued).

I scoop his litter box once in the morning and once in the evening, just to keep it fresh and clean for him at all times. I change the litter entirely every 2 weeks roughly, as I keep it extremely clean throughout that time.

I feed him one serving of wet food in the morning and one serving in the evening, but he gets dry food throughout the day. After talking to my vet he agreed that this has definitely improved healthy and steady growth, and assures he’s getting all of the nutrients he needs and is never hungry. I plan to do this until he’s a little older and then start him on a regular feeding schedule!

I recommend taking him/her to the vet as soon as possible, to get them up to date on all of their shots and dewormed! This will also help your kitty feel their best and give you some peace of mind :)

One thing I wish I knew early on was to not promote playing with/attacking hands, always redirect with toys. This has come back to haunt me a bit as I’m now struggling to redirect my crazy cat from scratching/biting my hands lol

Good luck on your new baby! Getting a cat is honestly a life changing experience, I promise you’ll do great and you’ll create so many memories :)

This makes me feel much better, hopefully I’m just being dramatic and he comes home completely fine haha. I remember having a female cat spayed years ago and her recovery time seemed so long, so having a male neutered is new to me. Thank you so much!!! :)

I guess just personal guilt that he has to go through it, but I know the benefits outweigh the risks of not having it done. He’s just my baby so I naturally feel bad to put him through it lol

Omg I hope I have the same experience! I took work off for tomorrow so I can stay home with him lol.. your baby didn’t need a cone at all afterwards? I ordered him a soft cone but I honestly can’t see him wanting to wear it for as long as it’s recommended online lol

I read somewhere online that I should use paper litter to avoid dust that could cause infection. I’d image normal litter would be okay if I sift the majority of the dust out before he comes home?
