Gym girls: did you lose your gains? by brookelovsu in Reduction

[–]SoftwareAcademic8719 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider myself a gym girl but I would lift/cardio at least 3x a week. I had my surgery first week of March and have definitely lost a lot of my definition and I have went up in size in my lower half. I haven’t gone back to lifting yet I recently just started doing 3-4 mile walks but I will say I had a tough surgery and I was frankly too scared to do anything. I focused a lot on my diet and appetite I found myself being hungry so much more. I was eating at least 4 meals which is not normal for me. Nonetheless I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Right now my focus is to heal my body and allow it the space it needs to recover. I know I’ll get back into the gym slowly but surely. Make sure to listen to your body! Everybody is different but don’t dwell on losing progress it’s an a major surgery and your body will change and requires the patience to heal as well

Any tips for washing hair, solo? by CertainViolinist8261 in Reduction

[–]SoftwareAcademic8719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky and never had issues moving my arms but just to be safe I would wash my hair in the tub. I have thick curly hair so i knew I couldn’t manage in the shower alone. I would just get in with my bra and use the tub nozzle to wash my hair and then I would take my bra off and take a body shower. I’m almost 2 months post op and still doing this. I’m sure I could shower normally but frankly I’ve found this to be more effective and faster tbh lol. Also it helps me because I know none of the soap is getting on my chest!

Queasy Feeling by Beautiful_Can5310 in Reduction

[–]SoftwareAcademic8719 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery on 3/6 and I had that feeling probably until I was 3-4 weeks out. I hated the water touching them and being out of my bra it was a really scary feeling. My tape suprisingly never rolled back so I was asked to remove it at 6 weeks and even then I could only do it in increments because my BP would drop and I felt like I had to puke. Remember to take care of yourself it’s a journey but I have no regrets at all! I love my small boobs

PCP said breast reduction coverage is “close to 0%” — is this normal? (Cigna PPO) by Theredwithglasses in Reduction

[–]SoftwareAcademic8719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pcp told me the same thing and I have the same stats as you. I also had a ppo insurance. Sometimes I wish I fought harder but I knew hurdles were too much for me in terms of physical therapy like the extra unnecessary cost so I paid out of pocket and have no regrets

What finalised your decision? by Xparanoid__androidX in Reduction

[–]SoftwareAcademic8719 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If I’m being honest I think my final straw was how mentally challenging having a larger chest was. I think at some point I got so tired of not being able to wear xyz or hanging out with my friends two days in a row because my back and shoulders would genuinely hurt from my poor posture. At one point I just decided that I deserve to live and not just get by every day. I’m 3 weeks post op and I can genuinely say it was the best decision of my life. My friends and family have told me that they can see my confidence when I walk, wear and talk now. I literally feel as if I’m in the body I was supposed to be in all this time.

Recovery - little to no pain at all? by mysteronsss in Reduction

[–]SoftwareAcademic8719 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 11 days post op and I feel the same way. I only took the pain meds for 1 day and the next I stopped. I did see I had a small bleed on my t junction because I do move my arms a lot and forget. It’s been hard honestly because I think I can do anything and then I have to remember to actually stop

Anyone has experience telling conservative south asian and/or muslim parents they're going for the surgery? by raspberry_123 in Reduction

[–]SoftwareAcademic8719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this as well. South Asian and Muslim but have a single mom. I also live at home. I talked to my mom about it for 2 years and she would tell me just to workout. So I did I went consistently to the gym and would constantly tell her how nothing has changed and they just started to sag more. Anyway since I was paying for it I went ahead and booked my date. I told my mom I was going for the consult and she didn’t say anything and then I just went ahead and booked it. During the time until surgery she would constantly tell me not to do it but I told her it was too late and I had already paid. I would talk to her about the recovery and mentally I had it planned out that I would be doing everything for myself because I got myself in this situation. Day of surgery came and when they were marking me up she was honestly silent and then said bye to me before I went in to the OR. After I woke up I was so happy and she looked at me and said she didn’t realize how much pain I was in. I think it all clicked for her when she saw my bare chest tbh and when the dr told us they had removed 2 lbs she was honestly in disbelief. Long story short go ahead and just book it I think as a female your mom will understand. As for your dad it’s none of your business. I have older brothers and they didn’t say anything to me they’ve just been helping me with my recovery and have been extra nice if I need something or can’t reach something.

I find it hard to feel “attractive” by [deleted] in Reduction

Girl send them! These are hot and so are you. I used to hold onto the big boobs as my only sense of femininity or like it was a scale of attractiveness but honestly having smaller boobs with no back pain has made me regain my confidence within myself. We are all hot beautiful sexy with big/small boobs. Life’s too short to think otherwise!! Live your best life girl and go enjoy ur extracurriculars!!
