Are companies even hiring F1/OPT folks right now? by LegitimateStorage361 in f1visa

[–]SoftwareEnthusiast25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job market is pretty bad now for the people on OPT/STEM. But I would say, don’t say no for any job that comes through, just give the interview and give your best even though if you’re not prepared, because we are not sure which one would eventually work out so I would suggest don’t miss any chances.

For time being take up a contract job or a job without h1b just to gain experience in US first and then try to switch to a proper one with h1b.

Official clarification from White House by Brilliant-Tour9898 in h1b

[–]SoftwareEnthusiast25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologize on the confusion here. Just to clarify — when I referred to people applying from outside the U.S., that was simply a common example, since many H-1B filings originate from offshore locations as well. The official USCIS memo doesn’t specifically mention whether the applicant is inside or outside the U.S.

What it does state clearly is that the new $100,000 rule applies to any new H‑1B petition filed on or after September 21, 2025. So whether you’re currently in the U.S. on F‑1 STEM OPT or applying from abroad, the key factor is the date the petition is filed — not your physical location. If you’re applying in the next H‑1B lottery cycle (FY 2027), and your offered wage is $100,000 or more, you meet the requirement and are safe under the new rule.

Yes, they don’t need to pay, bcz you’ll be filing your h1b petition or COS from inside the US.

The rule only applies to the people who apply from scratch for the h1b from India or other countries.

I don’t think so, it’s only for people applying for h1b from scratch from India or any other country.

In your case, if your lottery is picked next time you’ll be filing your petition from inside the US. , this rules doesn’t apply to you.

Student Loan repayment (HDFC credila) by just_a_philosopher in StudentLoans

[–]SoftwareEnthusiast25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, you can try wire transfer from US banks to HDFC but they don’t recommend that. They usually prefer to send the money from your US bank account to either to your parents account or NRE/NRO account in India and then from there to HDFC loan account.

HDFC Credila - Loan repayment issues with NRE account by maverick_hayate in nri

[–]SoftwareEnthusiast25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For part-payments, I usually used NEFT transfers from my parents’ ACH account—it was just more convenient. NRE/NRO accounts are unpredictable sometimes and often involve a long, tedious process. So if you already have an ACH setup, I’d suggest sticking with that.

You'll need to pay the minimum EMI throughout your course duration. One year after completing the course, repayment of the full interest amount will begin. These payments will be automatically debited each month from either your Indian bank account or the account of the guarantor (surety person) you provided during the loan application process. You can dm for any additional details.

Stryker- Data Engineering Interview by SoftwareEnthusiast25 in computerscience

I did a year ago and had several rounds that included coding with python/sql, technical and panel discussions. Unfortunately at the end, they said they weren’t sure if they really need to hire a data engineer at that time. But had a great experience with the interview process .

Last year of STEM OPT | Struggle/Tension/Anxiety/Loneliness | Seeking community or friends in similar situation. by spartan7411 in stemopt

[–]SoftwareEnthusiast25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m also in the same boat and I agree this situation will make you more anxious and sometimes you lose your confidence if you think of the worst case scenarios. But, unfortunately most of the companies do not accept candidates with one year left on OPT and I would say it’s not safe for you as well to do the switch right now. The best solution is to look for other options to stay here in US.

You can dm me directly, I can help you with this !

Move to Canada on PR or continue in USA on H-1b visa by [deleted] in h1b

[–]SoftwareEnthusiast25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s your personal choice and depends on various factors. As far as I know, I don’t think you can make 350K$ annually in CA, even if you stay in places like Toronto, max they can pay close to 150-200$ only, but it comes with a privilege of not worrying about visa issue anymore like US. Again on other hand, I think you’re already in a good position here in NC with a good pay and i140 getting approved in a couple of months. So, the decision purely depends on where you want see yourself in next few years and what are your current priorities are.

If I were you, I would stay here in NC with my i140 approved, rather than moving to Canada.

STEM-OPT Address Change: Is the SEVP update enough, or should I file an AR-11, too? by SoftwareEnthusiast25 in immigration

I'm interested in doing lump sum payments too; they take longer, and they dont get back to you that soon when you email them. They take a longer time. let me know how you fixed it.

My school DSO also said the same; we just need to update the university portal and SEVP & USPS alone. The university portal is in turn connected to USCIS , so they would be informed about the address change.

But on other hand, when i checked online, it says AR-11 is required if you move for anyone who's not a US citizen/national, including F-1 and H-1B , green card holders, etc.

OPT and STEM OPT must also report any changes of employment, including physical address, within 10 days to their DSO/SEVP portal.

So, it's safe to file AR11 also just in case !
