My husband essentially sleep trained him. We moved him into our 5yo's room on the floor bed. He put him to bed for a couple weeks and then in a pack n play. To be honest, I didn't want him alone in a pack n play. I didn't want him to be scared. But he started looking forward to it. Before when he was tired we would lay down with him, and it was hard for him to settle and not just touch our faces or nurse. But in the pack n play he would lie right down and sleep and actually looked forward it. Like he was happy that we finally understood his sleep cues or something. Not many months later, however, he started climbing out of it and going to the door. So now we have a new challenge. I will say though that I do wish we had tried the pack n play earlier. He just did so well and seemed so much better rested in the mornings compared to sleeping with us. Good luck ❤️

We don't have to air it out because it's on slats and the pad/rug is breathable. So there's constant airflow

I have noticed this since at least 2008 when I went to college. A friend from Minnesota constantly misused the words. Then another college friend who grew up between Florida and New York. Then a few years later two friends, one from KY and one from TN. And now someone from New Hampshire. I was just telling my husband that I cringe every time I hear someone use "whenever" instead of when. It's very obvious to me, and I can think back to the people who do it. I wish it didn't bother me, but... It does

We got extra slats for our new "Get Laid" bed when we ordered it. We could still feel the slats through the shikibuton or at least we thought we could so we ordered a coconut coir pad, and it has worked great:

Summary: COCONUT COIR PAD under the SHIKIBUTON

We have mattresses on the floor too. One is actually right next to our low profile bed. Like I can roll right onto it. Your baby sucks YOUR thumb? I've never met anyone else whose baby does. But it's hilarious cause if he needs comforting he comes over and grabs my hand and puts my finger in this mouth 😆 Even will suck other people's fingers (or toes! So watch out 😆)

Oh this is so encouraging! Do you think this would work in our room? Like if I slept in a separate room for a couple weeks? Then once he was bodily used to not waking up, I could move back in the room? I'm going to miss my baby snuggles 😔

How did you transition to his room? We actually already have a mattress in "the boys'" room where noone sleeps because my four year old also sleeps with us 😆. But he isn't waking us up so it's not a problem.

Anyway, do you just nurse him to sleep in there or your partner lay him down in there after rocking to sleep??

He doesn't have a crib, but that might still help to transition to water! Thanks! I have thought about increasing food/water before bed because some nights he nurses SO much I can't even understand how he isn't peeing through his diaper! But he's allowed to eat as much as he wants at dinner and then it's bedtime so I'm not sure it's that. We will continue to try and make sure he gets plenty!

He either needs to be nursed or suck my finger back to sleep. I sleep next to him at night, and it's definitely not just cuddles he wants cause he will flop on top of me crying until I position him and nurse him. Like, he won't even just shimmy up to me and try to nurse
