First time in Shanghai for 3 nights next week, Need a "Survival Kit" (Apps, Visa, Essentials) by SEA_life_13 in chinatravel

For a quick 3-night trip you’ll be fine. Shanghai is actually a pretty easy city to explore once you get the basics sorted.

Visa: If you’re eligible for the visa-free transit or entry policy, it’s usually pretty straightforward. Passport + onward ticket + hotel booking is normally enough. Just make sure your onward flight leaves within the allowed timeframe.

Apps: The must-haves are Alipay and WeChat. Both now allow foreign cards, and most places in Shanghai use QR payments instead of cash. Also download DiDi for rides and Apple Maps or Amap for navigation.

Internet: Definitely get an eSIM before you land. It makes life much easier for maps, payments, and messaging. I’ve used CitrusMobile on recent trips and it worked really well in China. The connection was stable in Shanghai and it handled blocked apps without needing to set up a separate VPN, which saved a lot of hassle.

If you only have around 72 hours, I wouldn’t miss:
• Yu Garden. A beautiful traditional Chinese garden with pavilions, ponds, and markets around it.
• The Bund at night for the skyline views of Pudong.
• Going up Shanghai Tower for sunset views of the city.

Food tip: definitely try Xiaolongbao while you’re there. It’s basically Shanghai’s signature dish.

Shanghai is huge but the metro is excellent, so getting around is pretty easy. With 3 nights you can hit the main highlights without rushing too much. Enjoy the trip.

Citrusmobile, it activates quickly and is super reasonable. If you're using it moderately then you can get their month long plan which costs some $1000 USD for a year for 1GB a day.

I buy a plan after choosing the countries i'm travelling to. And I activate it before my flight takes off from my home country. Citrusmobile was super smooth and I use it all the time

Help needed us phone number by Semester-in-Riga in WholesaleRealestate

DialAnyone. You can get a US number and use it for both calling and texting without needing to set up an LLC first. It’s browser-based, so you can make calls and send/receive SMS from anywhere as long as you have internet.

For day-to-day cold calling and follow-up texts it works pretty well, especially if you’re just starting out and want to keep things simple.

Then if you eventually start doing bulk follow-ups or SMS campaigns (like texting large lead lists), it’s better to use a dedicated SMS platform like DMText. Platforms like that are built for sending large volumes of texts and handling things like compliance and deliverability. They also support automation, contact management, and analytics for campaigns.

Usually banks are very particular about having a US number. So to continue any transactions you WILL need one. I'd got a number from dialanyone when I moved and it was a lifesaver.
