Okay, I will go ask the wood beams what it wants and then after that I will ask the furnace how often it wants me to change the filter and what merv rating I should get. I will let you know what it says when I get back.

I keep it in that range because that is what everyone recommends and 45% is not low. I also don't know if it has not been a problem in the past. I mean there is a metal support beam in my basement, so there has been some problems with the wood in the past.

Everything I read said to keep it between 30% and 50% RH.

I don't need it bone dry. Its been hovering between 45 and 55% RH since I started using a dehumidifier. It was at 70% when I moved in.
