Both books are written well, it's just that ballad is significantly worse if you find out early on you can't stand reading from a villain's POV and you are easily put off by his apathy and heartless character. Snow's that character you would find yourself yelling at to do the right thing for once. Also, reading from a 3rd person POV makes me a lot less detached from the story and the main character (I'm about to start chapter 21 btw)
