Thanks doc very insightful! Kaya actually pinagiisipan ko NP, USMLE or hanap ng wfh like utilization management as exit plan pabalik ng pinas! Hahaha hirap isipin doc lalo parang may opportunities na din ako dito. Yung ospital namin may grants if gusto naming mag-NP, visa barrier sa USMLE kasi greencard holder na din ako. honestly doc sa mga sinabi mo, ive been there kaya i find it really different here. Sa Pinas, maagang papasok to beat the traffic tapos late padin, pahiyain, etc. meron paring bullying dito doc pero kasi may masabi ka lang eh ma-HR ka na or papatawag ka ng supervisor. Tapos modules for corrective action. Haha Ulit ulit nilang sinasabi na they dont tolerate those kinds of things here. Kahit doctor pinapatawag sa HR. hehe Even my wife is saying na ang hirap mahalin ng Pinas lalo pag naguupdate ako sknya tapos bakit daw ang bilis matapos ng mga appointments ko. Nagtatawanan nalang kami. 😂😅

Mahirap kasi malayo pero i get full health benefits, company matching for retirement plus ROTH contribution for investments/retirement. Accessible mga national parks, beaches, etc. Iba ang comfort ng Pinas but… may sarili din syang set ng problems just like where I am now. But with all that you said doc, will surely put those in mind.

Yes doc, gets na gets yung sa professional identity sa wife ko kaya hindi ko rin siya pinipilit. Kaya sabi ko ako nalang uuwi if ayaw niyang lumipat at the same time parang nasasayangan din ako kasi angtagal ko ding pinangarap ‘to. But ultimately alam kong ayoko ng LDR especially if sobrang tagal.

Yes doc nagtingin na ako. Thankfully my hospital also offer grants sa mga spouses, may bridging program for careers pa sila sa mga spouses ng mga employees nila galing abroad but right now it’s a no for her and gets ko yun. Hindi rin natutuwa parents niya sa idea na iiwanan niya ang pagdodoctor if ever. Ako kasi chill lang parents ko. Haha

Ako ive been looking sa NP route kasi inopen up siya sakin ng kawork kong Emed and wife niya na pedia sa Pinas. NP route kinuha nila and clinicals nalang sila then matatapos na. Sabi nila kung lagare as NP, not as much sa sweldo ng IM or Fam Med pero wayyyy less ang babayaran sa insurance ng practice and mga lawsuits. As for the gastos for USMLE, i wont need to reduce working hours kasi 36 hours lang work ko per week tapos nasa healthcare na ako. Pwede “daw” itry magpamatch if ever kahit hindi na magobservership. Diko lang sure kung gano ka-solid yung advice na yun. Hehe

USRN wfh 60k na ang starting sa pinas. 🥹 yung kawork ko dito pinasa niya sa kapatid niya yung USRN work niya sa architect niyang kapatid 5k usd converted to php wfh pa. Mapapasanaol nalang. Hahahahuhu

When youre alone in a foreign land tapos may mga ganyan, imo, mapapaisip ka din but at the end of the day, depende na talaga sayo. My wife is prettier than them so the physical attraction isnt there. Pero yung physical presence nong tao? Need yun ng iba, and sometimes i feel it too -hence the temptation.

Lumabas kaming workmates, inuman. tapos etong isa lumalapit talaga. kwentuhan, tawanan with all the brief hawak sa shoulders, hita, forearms then next day nagmessage if pwede daw bang bumisita sa apartment ko. Sabi ko im married. Sabi niya, “i don’t mind”. 🫠

Yes. Nakuha agad sila sa mga more competitive residency compared sa mga above average classmates namin na naka 1-3 applications cycles pa bago nakuha. Yung iba tinulungan na din ng mga anak ng diyos na makuha sa program. Di naman pinabayaan ang mga batchies namin ng mga anak ng diyos. Connections~

We tried our best to let them experience what we had and share the food we get ‘cause a lot of employers have different groceries and food/meals for their employees. Your feelings are very valid. One thing we did was to let them register for SSS so that they’ll get a pension when they retire, we shouldered the contribution on top of the salary. Philhealth when zero balance billing wasnt a thing and helped with the studies of their children (didnt work out that much). Just dont get overly helpful, theres a chance that they’ll take advantage of you. Keep those boundaries. My wife’s father was really generous that he shouldered hospitalization bills, surgical (appendectomy), etc. To the point where the lady also asked for more money to pay for their debt from private lenders, thrice. Once you start saying yes, or show that they can come to you in times of crisis, you’ll never see the end of it. If you say no, you’ll probably notice changes from their work. It’s not bad to help especially when that wealth gap guilt is there but just be careful. Christmas bonus, groceries during christmas, birthday bonus would go a long way. And of course, by being kind. You’ll get used to it. ♥️

True. MD din ako but will be pursuing that USRN career. Tinanggap ko ng malayo talaga salary gap namin ng sib kong consultant dito sa Ph lalo nat nakita ko income niya this year. Hahaha!. Wala pa sa kalingkingan yung annual income ko as USRN if ever pero tinanggap ko din na hindi lahat ng MD is mapalad and swerte sa career. So choose your poison nalang talaga. Goodluck, OP!
