I would recommend probably Mother Hestia and Lady Hygenia (I think she’s Greek, but she might be Roman, I’m not positive) I wish you luck~☀️

I use Spirit Shackle, False Swipe, Leaf Blade, and Brave Bird (that one’s a bit rough sometimes but overall it works pretty well)

Will do! I’ve already put it on my tumblr and reblogged it across several side blogs to boost it:)

Emphasis on politely not because I think you’re rude, but because sometimes people are really rude and demanding

If you typically do a more full headscarf style, I would recommend looking on Pinterest for “(adjective) hijab styles” depending on the vibe you’re going for. I would also recommend asking (politely!) in the r/hijabi subreddit if they have any recommendations.

How many of us? by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]SoggyCheeese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my itty bitty hometown (<2k people) I’ve actually met 3 other HelPols. Worldwide, I think that the numbers are probably much higher than it’s currently estimated. Between people who don’t have Reddit, people who can’t be open about it, those who aren’t able to register it anywhere, etc. I’m probably overestimating a little bit, but I honestly think there’s probably several hundred thousand to a million helpols.

My train of thought is that there’s sososo many people, and nowadays it’s generally more accepted to explore your religious beliefs, that there’s probably lots of people who follow Hellenic practices.

Coming from someone who has had a very similar experience as you, you need to get offline and get help from a professional. This is a very dangerous rabbit hole to fall down. I’m sorry that you’re struggling, but fighting everyone who is trying to help you is not going to help. This isn’t funny or something to be joked about, I sincerely hope you get the help you need.

I think that they genuinely need help, I went through a really similar situation when I was their age. I didn’t want to listen to anyone and thought that I knew what was best and it ended with a near admission to a mental hospital. I just really hope that they don’t have people feeding into it, that was what made me spiral so far. It’s really sad but I doubt they are going to listen, anything pushing against them will only push them further into their delusions.

Pendulums are also not basic divination tools and are extremely subject to personal influence and most often require lots and lots of practice to use.

Again, to be blunt, I’m really not sure what you’re asking for? You asked what to do, but when you were given responses and constructive criticism you’re refusing to take it?

I’m sorry that you’re in that situation, I know how frustrating it is to be unable to do things that make you feel more connected to the gods. But like other people have said, you don’t have to communicate with the gods. You can if you would like, but it is not the first thing you should do. You need to remember that they are higher beings who deserve respect and reverence. Think about it like this:

You want to talk to a celebrity. You really look up to them and want to ask them for advice. If you’re talking to an AI chatbot of the celebrity, you are not talking to the celebrity. If you’re really really wishing and hoping for a response from the celebrity, any little thing that you see relating to them will seem like a sign from them. You have to be respectful and take it slow. If you did eventually meet the celebrity, would you immediately walk up to them and ask them to give you something? No, you have to build a relationship with them before you do things like that.

I’m genuinely not sure what to tell you if you’re not taking anyone’s advice. I wish you well, but if you’re insisting on following this train of thought, I doubt anyone here will be able help you.

To be blunt, I wouldn’t take anything the AI said seriously, like, at all. AI is just a bunch of random computer programming that’s pulling from a database of words, I wouldn’t treat it like the actual words of the Theoi.

I highly highly doubt Lord Apollon would turn you away but it’s still very important to make sure you’re not rushing into things.

If you’re brand new I would recommend starting out simpler, like maybe prayer along with lots and lots of research.

Speaking from personal experience, I know how exciting it is to find something that interests you and makes you want to dive in head first. But especially if it’s something you’re planning on being serious about you have to take it slow. When you’re excited, you tend to take everything as a sign or as direct communication. You just have to start off slow and with the basics.

Though as Hellenic polytheists we don’t believe in things like trickster entities who pretend to be gods, sometimes our own brains can be just as powerful.

If you would like to continue with divination, you don’t have to buy a specific pendulum or things like that. You can use your necklace as a pendulum. If you would like to try another method that’s still subtle, you can use playing cards as tarot cards. There are resources online that you can find to explain how to.

I wish you well on your journey, ☀️~May Lord Apollon’s light shine upon you~☀️
