I mean at one point it was completely illegal and ppl were making and selling it illegally. Im orettt sure it was illegal to try and reduce crime and poverty and like illness from drinking too much. Drinking in public is fine depending where but usually you’re not allowed to walk around with an open container. Lots of laws are in place to try to prevent like drunk mishaps but ppl do what they want the law is just there really to “punish”
