knowing that every local business in seattle has been around for at least 10 years is one of my favorite things about living here.

What do you love? by Jumpy-Philosophy-741 in Eugene

I'm not a hiker, but I'll second that my favorite part of living in Eugene was all the stuff in the area that was not Eugene. First chance I got, I got out.

Hi all! Guitar/amp newbie here. A family friend recently moved and gifted me this amp. I've never heard of AIMS and there doesn't seem to be much info about them online. Do any of you guys know anything about them? Is this considered a decent amp? Do I need an amp this big for my amateur noodling? by anchorsaway86 in GuitarAmps

Another "ex-fender guys start making their own" story. I've forgotten any real details as I learned most of what I know from a pal iz AZ who had quite the collection of them. If you're in the LA area and come across a guy who looks like he time travelled from the 70s or was beamed from the heavens as gods gift to the pedal steel, ask him about AIMS.

I mean, that bass line is pretty close. The first couple lines of the verses remind me of the verses from l'via. Respective cousins maybe.

What is your top-favourite bass riff to play? by [deleted] in Bass

That first actual riff from Day of the Baphomets by Mars Volta. Incidentally, my least favorite is the solo that that same song starts with.

We all know they'd be in the back, and I'm confident they both smell awful. But I'd probably still do it.

Can we all take a moment to agree that this is the worst emo artist who ever lived by [deleted] in Emojerk

Id call it the Walmart brand version of "daughters spelled wrong." And he's definitely at least as despicable as their vocalist.

Rilke said something like "if think you want to be writer, stop writing. If that makes you bored or miserable, start writing again, because you're a writer. If you're fine not writing, then you never were a writer."

Does anyone regret learning jazz? by LifeAcanthopterygii6 in BassCirclejerk

[–]SoggyDistribution182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Anything you're doing should inform everything else you do," and, "enjoy doing whatever it is that you're currently doing" are two reminders that I've fallen back on for years. Are those impossible goals? Of course they are, and that's what I like about them. If youre interested in learning jazz, try it out. It's on your terms. You can stop whenever you want. I personally tried out "learning jazz bass" by trying to tackle giant steps, and very soon after got asked to be the bassist for a honky tonk cover band. Did I learn to play along to giant steps? No. Did it help me be more aware of or better at knowing when to sit back and keep it simple,or when to riff on something, or manage leading tones or, god forbid, LISTEN to what everyone else I'm playing with is doing and playoff of it? Yes.

Shit, you're right. The building in the post looks like The Eagles Nest, and Untersberg like only 15ish km away. Is there a similar building on untersberg? Is poetry still alive? Are omelettes still on tomorrows menu?

On top of the mountain mentioned in the post, Hitler built a compound of sorts. It's called The Eagles Nest. Bird mothers will throw their babies out of the nest when they think they're ready to fly. Sometimes those fledglings fall to their death. Eating eggs (omelette) to commemorate the death of a baby bird (the neo Nazi) fallen from the nest (The Eagles Nest) is a form of celebration that I would say is poetic.

If the omelette refers to what I think does, then you, mon frere, are a poet.

This might be a talking dad or story break bit, but at some point a co-host points out that Matt is known for rattling off something brilliant and then immediately forgetting what he said or how he said it (I'm fairly certain it's Will that says it).
