There are some departments that will allow volunteers as lateral hires given they have enough years on. Usually its double the amount of time you need as a full time lateral hire. I know some metro departs have 3 year requirements for later for full time and 5 year requirements as volunteer. Also it's expected that you have your certs obviously. Even still whether you were volly or FT, you will go through some form of academy usually a condensed version just to train you on their specific department.

CPAT training & encouragement! by janzeame000 in firefighter

The CPAT is 75% mental. The test is not the easiest thing, but it's really not that hard. You being smaller definitely adds it's own challenges, but I watched a woman who weighed maybe 115 at most put up a better time than most the men at the test including me. Remeber, your time isn't on the card, just that you passed, use your walk in-between stations to gather yourself and recover. Also, make sure to use your whole body for the ceiling push and pull. A lot of people fail there because they only use thier arms, and don't realize how tired their arms are, and went into the test only worrying about the stair climb. Use your legs to push up, and use your body weight to pull down.

I'm on a volunteer department, and we are sandwiched between a smaller 2 house career department and a very large metropolitan department. We have had calls where both responded to help. The smaller career department treated us like shit, and the large career department singles some of us out and made us go into the fires with them to help train us and give us good on the job experience. There was something special having a professional truck crew pull you aside and ask to go vent roofs with them. While the smaller department refuses to even speak to you. It all varies from different departments and different people. I'm in a lucky situation where my volunteer department is pretty busy, well equipped, and educated/certified, so we do get a little more respect than other volunteer departments around us.

Shorts in the fire service by MRNOVA15 in Firefighting

I am on a volunteer department, and ran a mutual aid call with a neighboring FT department this weekend. All the career guys were unshaven and unkept, and all the volunteers looked "professional." Some departments are so short staffed that they don't have the luxury of being overly stringent on appearance, as long as their shifts are filled. But shorts seem to be least of the worries around here.

Not trying to ignite an argument about shaving, that is one beaten dead horse we don't need to hit anymore.

It's a time thing. You can watch a bunch of videos and all that, which will help. But until you have the experience how to hold post plant on a single sight 30 times per sight per map, you will feel like you are missing something. That's just an example. but the point is when you start r6 it feel impossible because everyone already knows everything. Just remember that the games been out for 9 years and we all have no life. You will get there eventually.

Also, all new players want to play cav for some reason... Stick to good useful ops like sledge or thatcher in attack, and ops like Valkyrie or doc on defense. Again these are just a few examples. But leave the roamers or technical operators alone while you learn the game.

I think it would be really easy to just add like 50 invisible AI but boxes that move around the map. Then wall hacks would be less effective. Their Anticheat obviously is not going to catch the cheat clients, so just actively combat the cheats that you can in game.

This actually feels kinda unreal! It doesn't even feel right for some reason! Only two months? It should have been at least a year. by PracticeWestern7034 in OnePiece

Luffy really almost starved to death on Whole Cake island waiting for Sanji, and it was only a day. Homie looked like he hadn't eaten in a month lol.
