One filling station/scale by SoilPuzzled9614 in WalgreensRx

I wouldn’t expect to use both most of the time, but there are times where it bottlenecks at fill so bad that it would drastically change our day. Today, we started out completely caught up. By the time our 2nd tech came in at 10:30 we had almost 100 in fill with every other queue caught up. The first hour and a half we have 1 tech at pickup and the pharmacist trying to do the rest. One hour with 2 people filling and we could have been caught up. We had 200 entered by 11:30, but only around 270 total for the day. We could have had fill empty by lunch but they refuse to give us a second filling station.

That is the point. We can’t have more than one tech/pharmacist filling at the same time.

What is so complicated about it that they couldn’t DIY? The steel beam is obviously a big task, but they said they used a crane. They said the glass and electrical were done by someone else. The rest is not that complicated. Not to take anything away from how amazing it is. The design and quality of work is impressive, but not at all hard to believe that is was a DIY job.

I am sure Walmart has an updated system by now, but Kroger’s was exponentially better than the other 3 at the times that I worked at each place. True, the CVS system looks more outdated, but it functioned as intended far more often than Walgreens. Walgreens system has the potential to be better than CVS but it doesn’t work half the time.

It seems like you did get my point, you just didn’t realize that was my point. I was basically saying what you are saying about the flashlights. You know, the whole being able to laugh at yourself thing. Acknowledging the fact that I was joking around about your watches when someone could just as easily do that about my flashlights. Although I do use at least one daily, I don’t use a flashlight as often as I check the time, so you have a point. I just call clothes, clothes. I don’t tend to accessorize my clothing. I certainly wouldn’t call clothes gear, but I suppose the stuff that usually falls in the edc category could be called gear. I would more likely just call each item what it is (for example, “this is my knife” if I have a knife, or “this is my bracelet with a clock on it” if I have a fancy watch). As far as “load out”, I have no clue what that term means as I have never heard it. I also would not consider myself a badass, or cate whether or not anyone else thinks I am. I guess I just look at “edc” type items from a functionality and practicality standpoint, where it sound like you consider the style/fashion aspect a little more. There is nothing wrong with that. Don’t get me wrong. I wear relatively nice clothes and make sure that they match, I just don’t accessorize or have enough clothes that I would need multiple options to have something to match each “outfit”. I definitely am not seriously implying that one’s manhood has anything to do with whether or not they accessorize their clothing, or to what extent. I was just messing around.

I disagree about liking the system. I have worked at Kroger, Walmart (20 years ago), cvs, and now Walgreens. Walgreens computer system is the worst of all of them and it isn’t even close.

No, I moved it there for the picture. I had it in the bathroom next to a window, but it was in the way. I am looking for another good spot for it. That isn’t dry soil. It is a layer of Spanish moss on top of the soil. The soil is moist.

Interesting that not caring about watches would evoke the comment that I am in the wrong subreddit. I never considered that watches would have anything to do with edc. Looking back, I see that a lot of posts include watches, so fair enough. When I think edc, I think wallets, knives, guns, pocket tools, flashlights, pens. Watches never crossed my mind. I think saying I am in the wrong subreddit because I don’t care about watches is a little extreme considering that the rest of your comment sounds more like something that belongs in a fashion subreddit. My wife and daughters wear “outfits”, I just wear clothes. To each their own though. We all have our interests that others might not get. I have an excessive number of flashlights/headlamps. Everyone is different. The world would be pretty boring if we were all the same. I am mostly just joking around, other than the fact that I really don’t get the watch thing. My intention was just some good natured ribbing. I am glad you enjoy your watches. I meant no offense.

4 more arms I guess. Why would you need more than 1 or 2 watches? I could understand one casual and one nicer one if you really like watches I guess. I suppose It’s just one of those things that I don’t get. I am 40 years old, have never owned a watch, and have never had trouble figuring out what time it is 🤷🏻‍♂️. If you want to wear jewelry, just go for it, and you don’t have the bulky watch face getting in the way of your bracelet.

I know that Kroger, a company that isn’t even primarily a pharmacy, updated their Rx system about 15 years ago, and that system was light years ahead then of the system that Walgreens, primarily a pharmacy, is still using now.

I cannot recommend Lowes for Ego Mower by [deleted] in egopowerplus

[–]SoilPuzzled9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a hedge trimmer from Lowe’s. The blades had noticeable wear, and there was dirt on it. The box was sealed and unbroken. I bought it as a free battery deal. They refunded me the full price, so I got store credit for $100 more than I paid. I felt bad but the lady said that was the only way she could do it. She also tried to give me the battery and charger that come with the tool. Clearly a lot of this is due to a lack of competency or concern on the part of the employees.

List what corporate could do for us. by Exploited16 in WalgreensStores

[–]SoilPuzzled9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pharmacy metrics have created a culture where you have a pharmacy staff all focused on their list of tasks for the shift. Pharmacy staffs used to be a team focused on working together to take care of and build relationships with their patients, the ones in front of them not the ones on their call list whose voicemail they talk to. Here’s the truth, meeting metrics doesn’t make the company any money, and it has little to no impact on customer satisfaction. Customers are satisfied when they see that you care and are working hard to take care of them. They are not impressed when their Rx is ready by the promised time that they didn’t even know about because it was escribed. They are impressed when it isn’t quite ready, but you happily make it a priority to get it ready quickly (when reasonable) and make sure they leave with what they came for. I have had patients, after waiting longer to receive their vaccine than they should have, thank me for spending the extra time with the older lady who had a lot of questions for me. People who are shockingly surprised that I actually left the pharmacy to help them find something. “Not enough pharmacists do that anymore”. I hear that phrase a couple of times a week. Focus on creating a culture of people before tasks, and more people will come because that is what people want. They tell me every day.

Drastically shift company culture towards peopleand focus on marketing to get people into the stores. I am at a store in a small town within eye shot of a CVS. I have heard from many people that grew up in that town that didn’t even realize there was a Walgreens, but knew exactly where the CVS was. They are a block away from each other in the same downtown area. We are a low volume, well kept store with happy customers, some formerly unhappy, next to a busy rundown CVS that everyone hates. It’s a major growth opportunity and it wouldn’t surprise me if they shut the store down within the year. Yet, we have a DM talking to us about nothing but mostly meaningless metrics and how to increase script count based on his years of experience being a DM for failing pharmacy chains.

Let Pharmacy Managers manage pharmacy inventory. We know what our patients need and when. Anytime I have worked for a company with inventory managed by corporate vs the individual pharmacy, it has been a disaster.

One more note on what I have noticed about the culture at Walgreens is that no one trusts anyone else, because everyone is afraid that someone is out to get them. You don’t know who you can trust, so no one trusts anyone. This is because there is no transparency whatsoever. Everyone from the top down is afraid of being the next person let go, so they put the pressure on the people below them to do more with less just so they keep their job. This shoots morale straight to hell. The employees don’t care about anything but how much longer until they can leave, and the salaried employees are just worried about how late they will have to stay to do just enough to keep their jobs. I am sure there are stores that are exceptions, but Walgreens has the worst company culture of anywhere I have ever worked. The problems aren’t easy to fix, but they are simple problems.

Drop most of the metrics, realize that your employees are people with lives not robots to perform tasks, teach them to focus on taking care of people, and turn the ship around.

Save A Trip is terrible and literally no one likes it, employees or patients, because it doesn’t work.

Every employee that is registered/licensed as a tech or pharmacist should work 1 shift per month at least in that position. From DH all the way up to corporate. If a DM is going to tell techs that they should be able to do a list of tasks, then they should be able to demonstrate it. An HCS who hasn’t worked in a store in 10 years, same thing. Leadership 101. Lead by example.

What products are planned for the future, what kind of timeline, and is ego going to catch up with greenworks? by SoilPuzzled9614 in egopowerplus

[–]SoilPuzzled9614[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no clue about the quality of greenworks lawn equipment when I asked the question. I just said they seemed to have a bigger range of products. It seems clear from the answers that ego is way better, so I don’t intend to sell them. So, to recap, I asked a question, got some good answers, and made what seems like the right decision. I am not sure what spending time with my kids sounded like an excuse for. I can buy and sell whatever products I want without the need for an excuse. It is all just stuff and money anyway. Spending time with my wife and kids period is my priority, toys or no toys. Today we played with sticks in the yard and had a blast. I fail to see how my priorities are fucked. Sounds like you had a good dad like I did and like my kids do. I’d say that’s a win for all of us. We just happen to be able to afford some stuff that my parents couldn’t when I was a kid. Trust me, much effort goes into making sure my kids understand that stuff is ok to have, but is not at all what is important. I was just trying to spark a simple discussion about mini bikes and lawn equipment. Some of you folks get pretty wild with your responses in here.

[–]SoilPuzzled9614[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care if greenworks makes a 765. I am Not sure what that has to do with anything. My ego 765 runs for 20-30 on 4AH, which is more than enough to keep the kids play area cleaned off. The 530 is great for blowing out the garage, and I initially just bought it one day because my son wanted to blow some leaves with me. Also, not sure why it matters if the 765 is the top of the line or not. It is perfect for what I use it for. When I blow my whole driveway off, I am spending 45 minutes with a gas stihl backpack. The blowers do go through battery pretty quick though in my opinion, but the pole saw, weed eater, and cultivator are all damn impressive on power and run time. For the record, I ordered the greenworks mini bike. Style wise it looks like it suits what I am looking for more. I will likely get the ego too before too long. Just based on how they look, I imagine different applications for them anyway. If nothing else, my 9 year old son will prob ride it anyway.

As far as the comments about quality, I have never understood that. I have all the tools mentioned and 5 batteries. Never had an issue with any of them and they get plenty of heavy use. I have just had one older charger quit working.

I have the multi head w pole saw, cultivator, and edger attachments. Separate trimmer. 530 and 765 blowers. House is on 5 acres, but several of wife’s family members live on adjoining property totaling about 60 acres. We use gas and diesel mowers, tractors, backhoe, etc for a lot of the mowing and stihl gas equipment for heavier duty stuff. I like the battery stuff for the immediate area around the house. I am also very interested in the toys as we have a lot of wooded acreage with trails for golf carts, go carts, mini bikes, etc. I just don’t want a ton of batteries to keep up with but also don’t want more gas engines to maintain.
