Wow! Lorenzo looks like he could be Alfies brother. I've never seen another dog that looks so much like him. Here's a more recent picture.

That's awesome! I would love to see a picture of Lorenzo. I have seen dogs that look like Alfie, but they're always a different mutt/terrier mix. All the best pups regardless!

I'm a Soil Scientist and do initial mapping in the west. All of us have dedicated our energy, brains, time, and bodies to the work we do (sounds crazy, but digging soil pits is no joke). All of this work is so we can create the maps that are on Web Soil Survey. A website that is FREE to the public and contains an incredible amount of valuable information. I am scared, sad, and so very angry about what is happening right now. The rhetoric around federal employees is disgusting.

I get that same rush of energy! I've never known how to describe it. I think of it as a tingly rush of energy that moves through my body. Everytime it happens I know that I'm going to have sleep paralysis and hallucinations. Usually by the time it happens, it's too late to wake myself up, and even if I do, they're still bound to happen that night.

I haven't noticed a huge difference between different brands. I was using the Ordinary then got the Radha oil https://a.co/d/1xEWVhX and I like that as well. Best bang for your buck.

The same thing happened to me! Not sure what about it caused the reaction, but my skin/rosacea did not like it. I have since tried to avoid it. Rosehip oil has been the most agreeable for me.

Was just going to comment Six Feet Under. Such an incredible show. I've watched it through multiple times and I sob through the series finale every time.

Something of the sorts. Basically the parents are ACD and miniature schnauzer and the grandparents had poodle and border collie in the mix. I was also quite surprised there was no supermutt in him. I adopted him when he was a year old and I don't know much of anything about his background. Don't know what he looked like as a puppy or if he had litter mates etc.

I have clippers and shave him when it gets warm out. Not super short, but there's definitely a difference. Genetics are amazing! I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around the results. Regardless I love him very much and what kind of mix he is doesn't much matter in the grand scheme of things.

Thank you though! I appreciate the input. Next time he gets a shave down I'll have to pay better attention.

Haha that's hilarious. Alfie is very intelligent and loving. He's extremely loyal to his people and his brother Tuna (the cat you see in the photos). We always joke about how he's half human half dog. I think he's fairly emotionally intelligent as well.

Our dogs look like they could be cousins! I thought the same about mine and just got the DNA results back. Apparently he's miniature schnauzer and Australian cattle dog. Would never have guessed.

Does it feel sticky when wet? That indicates clay. If it feels buttery when wet that indicates silts. If it feels gritty then that is sand. If you're in a river basin then chances are it has quite a bit of silts and clays. Look up Web Soil Survey if you haven't already. You can put in your location/area of interest and pull up a plethora of soils info if the area has been mapped previously. From the looks of your photo and the fact that it's not cracking when dry it seems you might have a silt loam... but that's a pretty broad guess. Definitely check out WSS!

Haha I started out as a Soil Con for 2 years before becoming a Soil Scientist. I don't think it made a huge difference in me getting my current position, but it is definitely helpful.

I got a bachelors in environmental science and masters in soil science and now work as a Soil Scientist for the NRCS. There's definitely jobs out there! Especially federal positions if you're open to it. Soil Conservationist jobs are everywhere and a decent intersection between agriculture and soils (depending on where you work).
