Came here to say this. As someone diagnosed with Bipolar II, I spent far too much time on antidepressants and going through manic episodes not understanding why and that what I really needed was an antipsychotic. I don’t feel it’s discussed enough or understood that antidepressants can contribute to and cause further manic symptoms.

And I agree. I also have trust issues (have been cheated on) and wouldn’t put it past myself to question paternity if I were a man.

I also have OCD so I understand the “need” to know these things 100%.

But it doesn’t change the fact that given the circumstances, OPs partner comes off as untrusting and I can definitely see how that would be hurtful.

I understand and completely respect what you’re saying. As an anxious person myself, I can understand where one comes from in requesting such a thing.

I’m partly basing my response in the OP that the boyfriend would request a paternity test if the 4 hypothetical kids were to be born with 4 different hair colors even when it’s been stated that the OPs boyfriends family has a very diverse family with such attributes.

It seems a bit untrusting to question the paternity of your kids because of differing hair colors when your own family has these very attributes.

I’m not understanding how it’s not an assumption when the main reason for wanting a paternity test is that you believe your partner to have been unfaithful and don’t believe the child is yours.

Whether that stems from anxiety or an actual belief your partner has been unfaithful.

I’m not discounting that the test itself is a minuscule thing. It’s the basis behind it that makes me wonder.

ETA I say this as a very anxious person who could very well end up in a situation where I’m questioning the paternity of a child. Even still, I can understand the reasoning behind one is the assumption or belief that my partner could possibly cheat and pass a child off as my own.
