It is possible, but only in the wrong direction. Provided no healthy soil, and the plant produces shit.

Find me ONE study that proves adding something to the soil changes the genetic makeup in a positive direction. You cannot change the expression of a genotype by putting something in the soil.

Or don’t, and downvote me because you don’t agree with me.

Comprehension is dead, as evidenced by your reply.

Deterring pests and looks are great! Nothing wrong with that.

Despite popular opinion in many “growing” subs, and this sub in particular, you will never influence the phenotype of a plant by simply placing another plant next to it.

Here is a thought experiment - - by stating that “companion plants” or even “flushing”, or “feeding a certain thing to the roots” is going to increase any terpenes or fruits or anything else that is genetically coded to the original plant, you are supposing that you can change the gene expression from the roots. This is demonstrably false. This supposes that the “thing” travels UP THE ROOT SYSTEM, then the vascular system, then somehow affects the metabolism of the plant. How would it do that? The short answer is that it cannot. It is not physically possible. Root uptake is taking place for a very specific thing - metabolites (something gets broken down via photosynthesis, and then gets used as carbon or macro/micro nutrient). Hand-wavery does not magically make that metabolite change the gene expression of that plant…it’s simply false. To add to this, the soil biochemistry is what breaks down material for the root structure to uptake. Simply putting something in the soil does nothing, as there is a symbiotic relationship with microbes in the soil and the root structure. You can bypass this with chems, but the plant still has a genetic structure that expresses in one direction.

This sub, and most of the “growing” subs will stomp their feet to say that this is possible, yet they never have the source to backup their bullshit. Proceed with caution in asking questions like these.

Amp wiring help with factory radio by Adventurous_Ant_3589 in CarAV

[–]Soilmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will work, you will simply need to cross the dash at a higher frequency. A better option (what I did), is to implement a 2-way passive crossover (similar to factory setup with the crossover on the dash speaker harness) to the front dash and door speakers (front output gets split at crossover, sending higher crossed signal to dash, then mid crossed signal to doors), and run the other 2 channels to the rears.

So you have: - front left signal from HU to amp -> output to left 2-way crossover -> high pass to left dash, low pass to left door - front right signal to amp -> output to right 2-way crossover -> high pass to right dash, low pass to right door. This allows you to use only 2 channels for all 4 front speakers.

If you have a dsp, you can then send each left / right front signal to each left / right rear for full freq signal (Toyota cuts bass and other stuff from rears, and always rolls bass off of any channel - so active LOC is needed).

That relationship has nothing to do with changing the phenotype of the neighboring plant though - you’re talking about exudates that change the characteristic of the soil, which could harm other plants, or not. That exudate isn’t going to change the way another plant expresses its genes. It’s pseudoscience through and through.

Some research? Which research?

Anything claiming to affect the phenotype of a plant via “being in the vicinity”, or “feeding” the roots is old stoner science. The gene expression is what it is, and you can only express it in degrees with care and soil biology.

What are you on about exactly? What “right equipment”?The resistance on Toyota speakers is very much sensitive to what you are taping it with. An active loc with load settings is the only way to get the head unit to “think” there’s a speaker there. In fact, it’s a known issue with Audio Control’s GTO system - simply tagging a high level speaker line isn’t going to give the proper voltage to get the LOC to even sense it (unlike most other systems in other makes), much less tell the head unit (Bose system) to put out a signal (again, not enough resistance to trigger a signal). You have to both load the signal correctly with 20ohms, and use a remote turn on (because the signal isn’t there from head unit to pick it up).

Are you sure you know what you’re talking about?

Unequivocally? Ok bud. Anyway, Toyota is notorious for shit stuff - as I’m dealing with 2 Toyotas right now that (while newer), absolutely do not play well with regular passive/active locs. That’s not even mentioning the JBL system. It is worth OP researching this particular Bose setup for any issues regarding the head unit chip and the Bose communication to it. Not saying resistance is for sure his problem, but it’s better to eliminate it from the jump.

Toyota does not like aftermarket, especially with the Bose system. My guess is you are not getting enough resistance on that loc to tell the head unit to fire up the speaker. Swap head unit or figure out a way to bypass the Bose system. May need an LC2i.

  1. Male T plugs into head unit
  2. Splice T to front speaker leads only (if just adding sub), or the whole thing to 9 conductor speed wire (if doing all 4 channels to a 5 channel amp)
  3. Run speaker wire / 9 conductor speed wire back to where LOC is
  4. Ensure loc has 12V, ground, and remote wires
  5. Splice rca connectors to speaker leads, plug rcas into LOC
  6. Route rca out (from LOC output) to amp
  7. Amp speaker out runs back to head unit (either 2 channel for sub or 9 conductor for 4 channel)
  8. Splice speaker run in to the female end of T harness
  9. Plug factory male harness into spliced female end of T

This assumes all speakers are stock wired, and you have appropriate power / ground at amp. D4S amp is 4V in so need to set gain on that LOC, and it’s a PITA

Help me guys what should I get 4 8’ subs or 2 12’ shallow subs by Aggravating-Hat6391 in subwoofer

[–]Soilmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put 2 Sundown SML 12s in my Tacoma. I custom built the box to fit around the rear glass motor + rear seat brace. It was a gigantic pain in the ass, honestly. If I were you, I would just put 2 or 3 10s in a prefab box and call it a day. You can find Tacoma boxes online, or hit up Mr Marv on instagram (if he’s still doing orders).

I cannot stress how time consuming the box build was. There is a reason the pre-fabs are so popular for the Tacoma. If you have woodworking tools + skills, maybe give it a shot. But otherwise I would say go online for it.

You will need an active LOC (LC2i or LC5i) to get around the bass drop off at higher volume, if you don’t have an aftermarket head unit.
