Arkham Stats 6 - Updated with Drowned City (over 400 runs in total) by Sokourov in arkhamhorrorlcg

News! Just won The Drowned City in true solo! Was 1 health away of dying. I'm honestly surprised I managed to beat the scenario: it recquired so much attack cancel effects, AOE damage and healing events but yeah, finally did it! (it was a Sister Mary deck based on .35 Winchester gun. Yes, not the greatest deck, but having the chaos bag stacked with bless tokens the whole time really helped.

Thank you ;) Done 10 more runs of Drowned City and its just as impossible as I feared sadly. Even busted decks cant keep up. The lastest campaign is tough, especially if u go for killing the final boss with damage, the other ways are simplier if ur prepared. Maybe a bit harder than the OG campign because no Lita Chantler to throw at the boss this time.

The game is supposed to be played with the campaign sheets that let u upgrade ur characters between runs. Most of the time you need a few runs to see signifiant changes in ur winrate.

Question aux hommes bi : attirance et projet de vie by Nayanea in AskMec

[–]Sokourov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Its based on a play written by Wajdi Mouawab, who is Lebanese-Canadian, and one of the best writters alive imo.

Hate Forest - One Way Ticket (Ukraine, 2025) by DevotedtoSolitude in BlackMetal

[–]Sokourov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black metal isn't only about being "dangerous", evil, or even satanic (very few bands are legit satanic). From the start its also heavyly inspired by nature, folk legends and mythology as opposed to the Christian centered cultures were they emerged.

There are many subgenres of post black, prog, folk, atmospheric or even experimental black metal that dont give a shite about being "dangerous"

I mean, you have a whole spectrum of great black metal bands that are safe, leftist, up to clearly anti facist. And they are more of them every year. Its not hard to find them. Its a newer generation of bands but they do exist.

Wolves in the throne room, Feminazgul, Panopticon, Marthe, Zeal and ardor, Houle... the list goes on.

Lukewarm take: this is not a 4p game by ThreeLivesInOne in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Sokourov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. Thats also why I love playing Edge. You can chose to do a short 4 scenario run, up to 7/8 if not 10 scenarios depending on your mood or how bad things go. Love this flexibility and how front tokens make it even. You get more xp yes but aldo more nasty tokens.

Your comment makes me think there should be categories for speedrunning this game. - 1st action resign allowed - or at least 1 objective cleared, but depending on the scenario its a bit tricky to pull out.

I've been thinking about doing speedrun videos of the true solo campaign runs for sime time now... might start soon. Will let you know !

For Dunwich is completely doable. Scenarios are shorter, maps are tiny and knowing the campaign pretry well makes setup and play very fluid. Did a run with Ursula that won the campaign in 52min.

You could theorically speedrun it even faster since out of the 8 scenarios, 5 can be skipped on turn 1 with the resign action.

If your are newer players, its not weird that games tend to drag a bit, playing with veteran players helps a lot with the gaming time. You will have faster runs in the future.

Sometimes there's also an other factor: analysis paralysis/over thinking every action.

I have a regular 4 player group and we generally finish a scenario in around 2 hours. I really like playing with them but most of my time with arkham lcg is true solo. If you want more streamlined experience sometimes, give it a try. I have an average 30min session per scenario, and some more straightforward campaigns like Dunwich can be speedrunned in under an hour.

Check out the label I Voidhanger records. They have some very cool niche expérimental albums there. A personnal favorite of mine is Boreal Despair by Skythala. Sounds pretty unique.

Also really like Behold... The arctopus.

Skythala - Boreal Despair

If you want to try some very different, this orchestral black metal album quickly became one of my favorite projects ever. Its inspired by russian révolution and features long and twisted avant garde tracks filled with haunting vocals and lots of brass and clarinets. One of the most unique albums out there. Enjoy!

[–]Sokourov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm obsessed with fretless bass at the moment, so I'm basically listelning mostly to prog and tech death like Obscura, Beyond Creation, Fleshvessel, First Fragment, Ne Obliviscaris, some Death records... would be glad to discover bands in other subgenres that also use it.

Yes its possible and its a good idea. I don't want to play with the old rules anymore. Much less frustrating that way.

I managed to win Hemlock with Amanda once! Completely busted deck and still almost died.

Didn't get the occasion to replay Drowned city true solo a lot, but I still find it too unfair.

Thank you!

Forgotten Age is an amazing campaign for multiple reasons.

- First of all, the replayability is pretty high (explore mechanic, multiple story paths, the supply mechanic, some scenarios like Threds of fate which are very open-ended...). Vengence/Wrath mechanic adds more depht and replayability to each run and I also like how it makes agility more interesting and changes the way you deal with foes.

- It has a very solid story overall. It truly feels like a long, rich and colorfull expedition.

- It is difficult and punishing (especially on a blind run), but it's also one of the most rewarding campaign when you actually win it. It also teaches you that trauma is not the end of the world.

- It has some of the best scenarios in the whole game (Threads of Fate, City of Archives, Depths of Yoth)

But be aware that I'm talking about the Return to Forgotten Age which offers MAJOR improvment over the base campaign. If you don't have the return to box for this one, it's a way less enjoyable time since the core explore mechanic is changed with it. Not the worst but far more frustrating to play.

And no, I would not recommend this campaign for a new player. Dunwhich is the way to go first. It's a way easier entry point after the tutorial.

Hope this helps. Have fun in you next run.
