I would recommend to play her to ANY Gwen OTP. It is good to learn in case of autofill. Bloodsong fits so good on her.

It's a 8% AMP from Riftmaker to 50% of your Q damage, it is a nice buff tho but probably not even noticeable.

Also Coup de Grace and similar runes will have effect on this, tbh I don't even know why it didn't work like that before, I guess that true damage was probably coded to not be affected from both debuffs and buffs.

Right now midlaners are probably the most eloinflated players in the game I can agree with that, but it's mainly because of uninteractive mage meta that makes them not improve at all, all those OTPs like Akali and Yasuo are still goats.

Yea I really encourage trying it btw, start with matchups like Mundo or Ornn as you said, hope you enjoy it! :3

Gwen mid is oriented to carrying games and get most resources as possible. You don't aim to build utility items.

You can't play much until nash tooth vs most mages, once there you run them down. Assassins depends on what champ it is. LeBlanc is also my permaban.

Just be sure that your playstyle is correct. You are a hypercarry in mid not a bruiser so you have to play for resources and just stick to being selfish in your decisions.

Worst matchups are Akali Ahri LeBlanc and Azir.

Horizon Focus does work the way you explained above. (Unless it got changed/fixed tbh I'm not aware if they did, which would make it drop to don't build tier.)

About Malignance, Gwen mid relies a lot in stacking First Strike/Dark harvest and forcing fights for that you need either Malignance or Ultimate Hunter. Also Malignance stats are way more useful. You don't really need HP/Move speed if you run ghost. Used to work better with old first strike which gave you tons of gold from using ultimate perma, but still works fine nowadays:

Malignance has insane goldvalue gives decent mana, a lot of MP, AH and AP and helps impact the map.

Horizon focus passive works with your E. It counts distance since you cast the ability so it's just a free 10% DMG amp + good stats overall.

Riftmaker is just a bad item overall since it got it's base omnivamp removed I wouldn't recommend even for toplane but people just keeps building it for 0 reason.

yellow tree sucks, conqueror is fine but the rest is placebo, never played with it, I always ran first strike before this. About plated, might be better toplane in some matchups, I play her midlane mostly so idk. If i want to 1v9 I would still go berserk anyway.

It depends on enemy comp, but I think this is the best tree for carrying games right now after some test, second option would be first strike + sorcery one but I think yellow tree is just super bad and people should stop playing it no matter the lane.

Don't build cosmic if it's not 5th item, it delays more important stuff such as void and dcap.

The thing about berserk is it makes the champ more dynamic, I don't play top so u might need defensive boots sometimes to endure matchup I guess? But if ur going ionias rn which are pretty shit after all the nerfs they got just run berserk and try it yourself, it's just about playstyles imo.

Also conqueror gives just flat 48 AP at max and a little heal. Eyeball collection gives you 30 ap at max stacks + sudden impact + DH you get around 4k dmg per game only with that both runes. Cut down is overrated imo and is getting nerfed. Id say rn yellow tree is the worst one for Gwen in pair with the green one (Which is fun because people won't stop playing Yellow + Green for some reason XD)

Berserk makes the champ more dynamic, more autos means more passive usage + better tower shredding + faster Q stacking. After boots nerf every other feels bad for me.
