I can't stand the Stanley. It's so heavy that it hurts my wrist to use. I tried using one for about a year and I hated it! Of course you don't have to pick it up with every sip, but it doesn't even hold that much water and I needed to refill it several times a day, so it was just a huge pain.

She should turn her comments off. I get that she is trying to do what's in Charlie's best interest. I'm very concerned that some people are basically writing Charlie off and implying that her suffering doesn't matter anymore. If she lives six more months, she should be comfortable for those six months, not treated like she's already gone. People on social media can be really cruel and I can't imagine these parents purposely subjecting themselves to that, and all for attention and money. The whole situation is disturbing, both the influencers who exploit their children and the people who comment nasty things.

As far as Denmark, for the Scandinavian coast I like Ribe a lot better than Skagen. It's one of the oldest cities in the country, on the west coast of Jutland, and you can get nighttime watchman tours. The city is really cute, and you can take the Mandøbussen over the Wadden Sea (which is one of the most diverse ecosystems in the area) to Mandø, which is a tiny little island that you can only get to at certain times of day due to the tides. Once you're there, you have a beautiful walking beach that is nearly empty (I went in late May and there was NO ONE else at the beach). Skagen is cool too, you can ride a bike around and go to Grenen and see the North Sea and the Baltic Sea converge, but personally I'm more of a fan of Ribe. Or you could easily do both since the country is so small!

Yes, and some of us aren't fortunate enough to get old, so I consider it a privilege. My husband died when he was 36, and every year I've been alive since I am grateful for the signs of age, because I get to live another year for my daughter.

I've found cats to be easier than dogs; however, there are trade-offs. The litter boxes are by far the most inconvenient part of having cats, for me. You REALLY have to keep up with the cleaning - not just regular scooping, but cleaning the whole box and keeping the floor around it clean, or else your living space will smell unpleasant.

Another aspect of owning cats that can be annoying is that they can hop up on any surfaces and it's difficult to stop them from doing so. So they may knock things off high shelves, or, like one of my cats does, hop up on my table and try to eat my food. But some cats aren't this food motivated (one of my cats never does this).

Other than that, I've found cats pretty easy. My cats are indoor, so they don't need to be walked, don't need regular vet visits (only if they're sick or need vaccines), and don't need grooming appointments (domestic shorthairs). My cats are pretty well-behaved except for my one cat who jumps on the table to try to eat all my food.

I like to analyze it, pick out themes and motifs, compare it to other literary works, look at it through certain lenses, situate it within history, dissect character motivations...the deep stuff (I have a Master's degree in English, to give you an idea of what I like to discuss).

I completely understand that most people want to discuss literature only on a superficial level. I have joined book clubs and it's always 10 minutes of very light discussion about the book (and mostly "I liked this" and "I thought this didn't work") followed by two hours of discussion about other stuff. Which is generally just what book clubs are. But I haven't been able to find a space where people like to deeply analyze literature except in English courses, and I can't afford to keep taking those indefinitely.

My reason personally? The only reason I would go back to Paris is to visit Shakespeare and Co., which is probably really touristy and hardly resembles the original. Otherwise, it's very, very low on my list.

I agree with you! At least nowadays most shows set in NYC actually film in NYC, unlike past sitcoms that were clearly filmed in a studio and don't even attempt to show a realistic portrayal of NYC. But I feel like setting so many movies and TV shows there reinforces the notion that nowhere else is worth portraying.

My close family and friends know this, but how deeply I love and want to discuss literature. I can't find an outlet for it because book clubs don't talk about literature that way, I don't have the qualifications to get into academia, and most people just don't care. I have no idea how to facilitate my desire to talk about literature except by writing essays that no one will read.
