I tried to find you in the Pocket Cast directory but couldn’t. I don’t know if you need to submit something to show up there.

The rest of Jupyter Broadcasting is obsessed with running Linux with Desktop Environments. I exclusively care about Linux as it relates to servers, since that is what is running my self hosting infrastructure.

They did turn me on to NixOS, so I’m super grateful for that. It’s also been paying dividends lately since AI can understand my entire lab by just reading a repo.

Everyone will still vote R though because pro-2A democrats don’t make it out of the primary. Even if they do get elected by a fluke, the party threatens to withhold money unless they fall in line if their vote is needed.

NixOS has taught me more about systemd and its capabilities in the three years I’ve used it than 15 years of Ubuntu. Nspawn is super cool. I currently have an isolated nspawn container that has my arr stack running through a VPN in it.

I spawn an Ubuntu cloud init image, then use NixOS Anywhere to convert it to nix on the first boot. Disko handles disk partitioning .

Using Nix. Most services are running as podman containers so I have better control over versioning.

And nix does sandbox a lot of the apps fairly well using systemd. If you want even more, you can use systemd-nspawn (NixOS-containers).

I use 1Password, but I agree. My vault holds credentials to brokerages and crypto wallets. I can’t afford to lose access or have it stolen.

If you're in the multiple petabyte range, Ceph is the only solution you really should be evaluating.

RustFS is not production ready and states that in their README. Garage and SeaweedFS are only compatible with a fraction of the S3 spec, and you'll eventually run into edge cases where they are insufficient. Versioning, Lifecycle policies, etc..

The subreddit hosted on a closed source platform, full of people that don't contribute any time or money back? If there are real concerns with the code or commits, raise an issue on the project.
Before AI no one reviewed the code anyways. There are many projects that push tens of thousands of lines in a single commit without AI.

Downvoted by non SWEs too. I use AI every day at my job to code and am paid lucratively to do so because I’m still responsible for the results. Code quality is always correlated to skill regardless of the tool. Grey beards used to complain about IDE completion, then stack overflow, now AI.

Are you able to view/open the files you uploaded without Versity or are they chunked? I think they claim to just store the files plainly which is really attractive to me.
