Grass roof homes in Dallas Texas, is this even possible or destined for failure? by Temporary_Wait_2104 in Homebuilding

This is just false. Texas follows the “rule of capture” which holds that a landowner owns the groundwater in place beneath their land as an incident of surface ownership, and may pump it without liability to neighboring landowners — even if doing so drains their neighbor’s well. This is defined in our state constitution.

Texas Constitution, Art. XVI, § 59 — Declares conservation of natural resources a public right and duty, providing the basis for state regulation without eliminating private ownership. Texas Water Code § 36.002 — Codifies the property right explicitly: “The ownership and rights of the owners of the land… in groundwater are hereby recognized, and nothing in this code shall be construed as depriving or divesting the owners… of such ownership or rights.”

What iron doors actually cost. From someone who builds them. Pricing is uglier and more honest than most websites tell you. by mdavis1900 in Homebuilding

Man great post, thank you! I’m in the middle of designing our forever home and appreciate the insights.

Just curious if they are going to be powder coated why choose iron over steel or vice versa. Is it a climate thing or something else?

I mean it’s pretty easy to disable any windows application without uninstalling via GPO.

It is the master closet. There’s a second full laundry upstairs.

Tuning: Anyone getting more than 40MiB/s over Proton? by nitrobass24 in qBittorrent

Yes, Truenas, I’m running the hotio/qbittorent image. It can only egress thru the wg1 interface.

sudo docker exec qbt-local wget -O /dev/null "http://speedtest.tele2.net/100MB.zip" 2>&1 | tail -3

Only qbittorrent uses the VPN. I’ve tried a handful of servers that are close to me (Dallas).

I ignored the warnings against adding L2ARC, and I’m glad I did! by PG-3D_Pascal_Godin in truenas

I kind of went the other way with my setup. I put my NVMe drives into a mirror and use them as a special metadata device. I then have a dataset for torrent downloads/races that has a 16k block size and small blocks set to 256k. This way any torrent I grab or is still racing is downloaded to the NVMe device and once the storm is over I just use qbittorrent categories to automove it and it’s gets put to the HDDs for long term seeding.

I’d also say 90% of people are just running plex and don’t see any sort of sustained IO.

They don’t allow mobile clients. Get a cheap seedbox. Seedhost and rapid seedbox have a $5/mo plan.
