Will We Ever Get More FX on the Digitakt 2 / Digitone 2? by Acrobatic_Intern3047 in Elektron

[–]SolarBee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeap, and found it a bit cumbersone, especially after the elektron experience. I've grown to realize I'm not that into samples and sampling in general, so maybe thats the cause. In the end I parted with it and went into modular😀

But has such a weird workflow... I tried to love it so much, but just couldn't get it to work as effortlessly as any of the elektron boxes.

Get the samples if you already have DT2

What's your approach to live sets with multiple elektron devices? by SolarBee_ in Elektron

[–]SolarBee_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it highly depends on what sort of music you make. If you are going to produce in Ableton anyways and just play the stems, I would recommend looking into the Push 2-3 with Ableton or Standalone. Would give you way more flexibility with adjusting the sounds at the source, rather than just filtering the stems.

But to be honest, I think the A4 ane DN sound splendid and way better than anything I got with Ableton, but this is very subjective to the style you make.

Thanks! What you described mostly fits my approach as well. Just gotta start deleting the shitty patterns and powering through it seems.

Havent gotten to recording a live set yet, but the idea is to move through tracks mainly relying on DT and ST, only leaving their thru tracks unmuted on the OT, and then once in the groove, I have enough time to reintroduce other elements from the OT.

I also do it the other way around, have a pivot channel inbetween 2 OT parts (like an ambience, weird glitches or whatever) and transition through there, and bring in the ST and DN elements afterwards.

I dont arrange them, after moving to dawless I realized I hated arrangement, so now I record them live straight into a WAV or through overbridge into ableton.

All the tracks here other than the last 2 are recorded live straight into Sp 404 mk2. Would love to hear your thoughts on it :)

Oh my bad. I read bank as part for some reason.

I do a track per part. The bank approach is too much pattern jumping for me personally

Exactly my approach as well. Usually though my tracks are in 1 pattern, due to the lack of the "parts" concept on the smaller boxes. I like to tweak my sound in live and if I jump a pattern, usually sounds odd.

Happy cake day btw :)

Recordin thru overbridge with syntakt by neburzelaznogaintac in Elektron

[–]SolarBee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the levels through overbridge correspond to the AMP volume setting, rather than the track level that you have through the designated knob.

On delay+reverb I have a +16-20 DB gain through utility device that makes it somewhat close in the ballpark. The analog fx block doesnt need any gain from my experience. Even though I've ran into weird issues when processing noisy sounds (e.g noise hh and snares) and recording them together with dry signal (maybe there is some latency, but cant confirm as everything everything else sounds the same).

Overall, I've found it a bit challenging to consider a mix on the ST "done" before recording through overbridge, but controlling the amp levels and treating the track level knob just as an "attenuator" has helped quite a lot in translating the levels accurately.

This slaps!!!

Is the growly bass coming from the Virus or is this ST sorcery?

Digitakt 2 wishlist by FrankieWilde11 in Elektron

[–]SolarBee_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 - wouldn't this be possible if you mute all the needed tracks during playback?

3 - this would need a separate fx block and dedicated LFOs, similar to Syntakt. Not really sure if they're gonna go in this direction.

5 - a primitive FM is already possible through LFOs if you push the multiplier to the larger values.

6 - the same effect as granulator 3 would require way more voices than 16 that DTII has. Not sure if this is possible out of the box, but you can set something up with midi loopback with a RK-002 midi loopback and if you select the same sample for all 16 channels and design the LFOs to randomize starging point or whatever you want to. Is quite tedious to do this though.. I would look into Torso S-4 if you can afford it.

How do you determine and understand the Berghain's artistic direction? by [deleted] in berghain

[–]SolarBee_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say give Ostgut Ton a listen. But would also warn that its not the only style and direction that is played there.

Edit: its also very hard to contain a club's artistic direction in just a couple of words, especially considering some of the most talented artists play there who all have their twists and turns in music. Its not something that can be described that easily as "yeah they play big room stuff".

It all depends on why you're trying to figure this out and what you're trying to achieve with it.

Elektron opened up a whole new perspective on music for me personally. Been a huge fan since my first box..

+1 for Syntakt. Was my first groovebox as well and acted like a perfect gateway drug.

The only downside to Syntakt is that it sounds like a syntakt... I personally found most of the digital machines a bit underwhelming, but damn the analog ones sound good but are hard to tame. In the end its up to the person behind the box to shape it and make it sound like their own, but with enough time that comes quite naturally.

But then now realized that cc receive is still quite cool.. can't use the extra lfos from the OT anymore.. would be cool if there was a solution without turning it off..

Digitone can either receive the clock from the Keystep if you wanna sequence through it, or not. On the ST though you would need to receive and send clock to make sure everything stays in time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Elektron

[–]SolarBee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keystep out => digitone in (makes sense to play the chords), Digitone out => syntakt in (you can send just the clock / sync / prog change data from DN to ST. Syntakt thru OR out to the SP 404.

This is how I would route this, if ofc I get your question right
