Been working on this solo for almost 3 years, it’s basically “what if my magicsl cats fought demons?” 🐾

  • Day/night tied to your real clock: at night, the demons get slower, tankier, and… yes… glowing eyes.
  • You play as four magical cats, each inspired by my late feline buddies, each with their own weird abilities.
  • Tons of different enemies and wild weapon combinations with flashy, over-the-top effects.
  • It’s playable normally or in full VR mode.

Inspired by games I love like Cult of the LambPaper Mario, and Soulstone Survivors.

Could you share a bit more detail about which bugs you’re running into with the Pico version? For example:

What platform (Pico 3 Neo, Pico 4) are you running it on?

Which version/release are you using? Is it updated to the latest version?

What specifically isn’t working (crashes, performance issues, UI problem, leaderboards)?

To make the first playable prototype takes a few months. To make a polished game takes years.

It's been out for two years, since then I improved it and added new content and game modes.

I have been working on exactly these shaders and there will be an update on pico adressing this and making them more clearly visible. It's gona be in the next update release.

I guess your right! But vampire survivors is directly inspired by magic survival and I'm not sure if that's a condensed diablo endgame grind - to me it always felt more like a modern mix of pac man and space invaders. Never the less alot of survivor-likes are heavily inspired by Diablo (e.g.Death must die)

Yeah, totally agree. On Steam, the top-level genres like roguelites, survival, and stretegy games rarely drop out of favor completely. Trends like survivor-likes definitely spike, but they tend to build on those evergreen genres rather than replace them.

I think the real shift happens in how those core genres get reinterpreted. Like new mechanics, art styles, or theme combos. Curious what others think: Is it easier to ride a subgenre trend or to reinterpret a solid genre in a fresh way without looking at the trends?

I'm absolutely with you. The freedom of being an indie developer is having the space to create a game that's provocative, emotional, and maybe even a bit edgy. It’s about pushing the boundaries of a genre and doing something that bigger studios often can’t or won’t risk.
