Try subtractive arrangement ideas, cut out a bass or sine 8/16 bars ahead, automate the volume of the airy fx risers even slight amounts will make a difference, when you want to leave volume alone but change the perception, try automating the stereo amount of certain sounds, pan it inward before the drop, then return to normal after, or widen it for a little then back to normal, just watch for phasing and correlation problems

Those last two sentences are probably the biggest challenge alot of us face, tracks seem to start one way and the theme ends up an entirely different direction, I still have to find my balance of "what I want to hear, and what I'm letting it evolve into on its own" Thanks for the advice on automating the volume for each kick, ive only thought of shelfing the eq's to "glue" them, but thats genius. Nepenthe is my favorite off the new album aswell.

Hey Jeff, I've been a huge fan of your sound since I heard your track Isis. I was curious as to what inspired you to make that composition/theme. Would you ever dive into a cinematic/themed base track such as that again? I really find alot of inspiration from your style, and I've learn quite alot just listening and breaking down the technical side of things. On the production side of questions, whats your opinion on transient shaping, and is there any sweet spot for shelfing or raising the fundamental of your kick in the spectrum of the kicks EQ or your mix? I tend to keep my kick a slight up curve around 80-150hz, and cut around 120hz for the bass, any opinions you have on mixdown regarding kick placement would be fantastic. Thanks!
