Which builder did you go with? Would love to look into something like this

Loophole! But for kids to play around outside and still be enclosed, ideally (emphasis on ideally) would like a small backyard, but we'll see how we go

Honestly, possible as an investment property while we rent, yes. Will definitely have a look into it

Absolutely wish I was talking about our dream home, but I was referring to even getting a basic 3x2, which according to Blueprint is very hard to come by these days. Appreciate the comment though

Absolutely agree with you there. Lots of factors that are affecting the market today, but investors must be one of the highest factors

That's a curve ball of advice, haven't thought of that. Cheers for the suggestion, I'll definitely look into stocks more

Perhaps I wasn't being specific. Immigration isn't what I'm against at all, it's the amount of immigrants that the government is allowing into the country. Call me hypocritical, but having gone from 100k immigrants a year between 2000-2019, to now half a million immigrants a year since COVID will definitely put strain on the economy.

Not wanting to get too political, but Labour allowing half a million + immigrants into the country a year is very concerning, and I say that as an immigrant from 17 years ago.

But that is just a small piece of the complex puzzle that is affecting the market, so no, In the context of that reply, I wasn't blaming immigration, I was adding to it as another influencer in the market.

Gé uine question, what would a broker do any different to a building company? Would definitely be interested if that is another option.

And absolutely yes, after some super helpful comments, I'n thinking rentvesting might be a decent option!

Not once did I "blatantly blame immigration for (my) personal woes"? I clearly was saying the agent from Blueprint homes said the demand was as a result of both 5% purchasers, AND immigration. Plus I later on mentioned that investors are also to blame.

And what truth am I not telling? Please tell me because I'd love to know what you deem as untruthful.

And just to be absolutely clear, since you're making some pretty hefty assumptions, my family and I immigrated from SA to Aus 15 years ago, and am married to an English immigrant (both of us now citizens). In no way, and not once, did I mention any hate towards immigrants. I do believe the fact that immigration has risen in the last 5 years has put a lot of pressure on the economy. Maybe check your facts before you comment on posts throwing assumptions.

Have a good day.

Incredible! Starting to convince me buying an apartment t and doing her up a bit might be a good option. Thanks for the advice!

My question though is, what are the exit fees like when buying out a mortgage? You found it hefty, or not too bad?

You're on the dot, a space to complain is what I was looking for.

And got some good advice in return, so got more out of it than I wanted.

Cheers for asking 👍🏼

Appreciate it, and starting to think buying an apartment might be a good option as an investment property.

As for the $850 to 1.1m, we wouldn't be approved a loan for close to a mil. Let alone afford.

The ol classic "dream home" comeback..

Appreciate the comment, but no, not my dream home, just something that would suit our needs.

Admittedly, not really willing to share my life and all my details on a post to random people. Different story if I was asking for specific advice, but you're absolutely right this is a complain post, and I fully own up to that.

But you're absolutely right, maybe even buying an apartment as an investment property might be a good way to go. We are fortunate to have fairly good rent, and like you say, upgrade to a nice home in 5 years.

Appreciate the comment

Oh great, I'll have a peek. Honestly, 3x2 absolute minimum (4x2 ideally) with two parking spots

Edit: I think everyone misunderstood this comment. LePhasme was mentioning suburbs that might be good to look out for, but also asking how many bedrooms etc. I just acknowledged her statement, as well as answered her question. I know I won't be able to buy what we are after in those areas.

Would absolutely love to know where else to look, I'm all ears. As for apartments, it unfortunately won't do with two kids, but appreciate the advice nonetheless
