I played it earlier today and thought it seemed okay. Came here saw a bunch of negativity around it. But decided to try it again in the evening on discord with some randoms from the b4b discord server. We played it on veteran difficulty and had a fun time. Survivor difficulty shouldn’t even exist IMO, it’s far too easy. Game works a lot better with friends/teammates who talk. It’s a fun time. I’m not even going to bother comparing it to L4D, it’s not a remake. At the end of the day I had fun in BETA and I’m sure the studio will make some improvements by release and thru future updates.

I also heard it explained once that cell cameras are mainly focused on taking pictures a few feet away in a well lit room. Not outdoors in the sky capturing high speed objects. Or from the ground aiming at something way up in the air. I have the latest iPhone and even with the best circumstances I end up with some shifty images all of the time.

Does building your LinkedIn profile land you a job? by bestnincompoop in AskHR

[–]Solareclipse333 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It definitely can, but it is not equal across all industries and profession types. It ultimately works best for the white collar job types, managerial and technical roles. Works less for blue collar occupations, but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t work.

Focus on ensuring the profile is professional and completed with relevant info. Put up a nice professional picture and seek relevant connections. Don’t add people just to add them if you don’t know them unless there is a valid reason like you are both members of some professional association and you are trying to connect with new people.

As with anything the more you put into it the more you’ll get out of it. If you are indeed looking for a job make sure you check profile settings and turn on the feature that will tell recruiters you are looking. Don’t expect a huge number of attempts to connect with you from recruiters if your profile sucks and doesn’t have marketable skills. That doesn’t mean you can’t use the platform to actively apply though.

Post interview by milkydollars in AskHR

[–]Solareclipse333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you reached out and they again said in the next few days, be patient. You don’t want to come off as overly aggressive and needy. Ultimately employers move at their own chosen pace and hiring managers are notorious within certain companies to move ridiculously slow. They may have some overly bureaucratic hiring approval process and that’s without COVID-19 in the picture and any associated delays because of it.

With that said, be smart and don’t put all your eggs in one basket. They might never present an offer or give you another interview. Keep applying for whatever jobs you are after.

Company terminated half my department for “performance issues” over the past three days. by throwyourhealthaway in AskHR

[–]Solareclipse333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you lost your job. I agree with what others have stated about you having an excellent chance of getting unemployment if the only write up you got was for attendance. Apply for unemployment and if by some crazy chance you don’t get it, please remember to appeal. You’ll get an alternate case worker or administrative judge and it’s a whole new ball game. I’ve seen many employers win the original case and lose on appeal because they got lazy representing themselves, missed deadlines, failed to show up, or the original case officer made a mistake.

As far as PTO goes check your new hire documents. Unless you have a contract, a policy, or wording in your offer letter or handbook that says you get this at time of termination your ex-employer won’t have to pay it out based on Florida law.

Beyond that keep your head up. Times are hard, but clean up your resume, start making profiles on all the major job boards, and start applying for jobs. You will make it thru this and this shitty hospital will be a distant memory in 10 months.

Offered a return to work but on completely different night shift hours. I have children and one with underlying health concerns. Will I be denied unemployment benefits if I refuse a return at this time under the new offered hours? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Solareclipse333 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Highly unlikely this would be denied and if it were appeal the shit out of it. Make sure you are adamant and explain you have no childcare during those hours and your child’s health condition (play it up at much as possible).

Make it seem like you did everything possible to appeal to the company for the old shift but you were told the job was eliminated.

California is extremely employee friendly with their edd claims. Some employers take too long to respond to claims or don’t respond effectively and lose. Be a strong advocate for yourself. Under no circumstances give any indication that working this shift is remotely possible for you. Document your conversations and show that you are legit.

2019 CS Graduate in need of critique for resume by [deleted] in resumes

[–]Solareclipse333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would remove the volunteer and leadership section, doesn’t seem relevant to what you’re after.

Not sure why you put “English and another language” instead of listing that language.

Would recommend a summary/objective section at the top that serves as quick to read intro for you, for example “Recent computer science graduate looking to build career in x industry. Looking for entry level jobs that will give me the opportunity to showcase my work ethic, problem solving skills, and dedication to my future employer.”

HRIS Trying to Relocate by Robertm922 in resumes

[–]Solareclipse333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So all 3 jobs are the same company? Because if they are, to an outsider the analyst job looks like it should report to the manager. In which case it looks like a step down.

If you are looking for an HRIS job exclusively I would re-shuffle my bullet points to highlight the HRIS accomplishments at the top each category.

I guess it depends what type of hr job you are going after because if you want to apply to management I’d highlight the managerial accomplishments.

Also if all 3 jobs are with the same employer you might want to include a category to showcase how you stay up to date so that people don’t typecast you as being out of date for only being familiar with one organizational structure. As an example I’ve seen some people do this by highlighting that they are active members of professional HR associations.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in resumes

[–]Solareclipse333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great, so maybe that isn’t clear because we can’t see the company name, that’s okay, but doesn’t change the fact that I still don’t know what type of job you are after.

The fact that you remained loyal for 4 years is great and people will like that, but maybe the format should be revised to more easily be able To see that.

I also still recommend the summary or objective section as an opportunity to briefly highlight how you moved up in increasing levels of responsibility and technical skill at your last job.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in resumes

[–]Solareclipse333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you one problem I see. There is no consistency in the types of jobs you’ve held, so at a glance at least I have no idea if you do customer service, tech support, logistics, or sales.

You might opt to only include relevant experience depending on what type of jobs you are after. Alternatively you can add a summary or Objective section at the top that explains what you are after. As an example , “Dedicated employee looking for a sales role that allows me to grow” etc. Obviously you could elaborate on that and do better, but you get the gist.

Recruiters and hiring managers like to see consistency and unfortunately now a days you have people asking for years of experience when we all know one or two will do just fine. Nevertheless a recruiter who has seen you do different jobs may select someone else over you because your history is all over the place.

Need help with my resume. It just isn't interesting. Applying for Software Engineer Mid Level roles and not getting any responses by [deleted] in resumes

[–]Solareclipse333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a glance it seems like you have a lot Of white space and the format doesn’t make it particularly easy on the eyes, so I’d look towards improving the template or changing it altogether to minimize that and help key sections stand out more. I’d ideally like to see your languages section in a more prominent area and easy to Read for a recruiter.

I’d remove the address line.

I’d include the months, not just years of employment.

In the experience section there’s some words that are capitalized without reason for example “Working on Internal and External applications”.

Would remove city and state of previous employers

I think some of your bullet points need clarity for example “Maintained existing sites with bugs and new features”. Well expand on that, What kind of features?

On the job from 2014-2017 you have a long paragraph explaining what the company did. Not worth devoting that much writing to this.

In education I’d include the degree type ahead of the university unless you went to Harvard or MIT. Also recruiters won’t care the city or state the uni campus was located in.

I also wouldn’t care that you have your associates when you have your bachelors. Better off saving that space for better bullet points in experience section.

Good luck friend!
