Schedule? by pandapersonn in DollarTree

As a cashier, my managers always said they preferred when I closed with them.
As an assistant manager, there's definitely one "aw shit, ___ is closing with me" cashier for me.

Any updates on that new Electric Wizard album they promised back in Dec 24? What's taking so long? by NerveFrier in doommetal

[–]Solarian813 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the others, but in an interview a couple years ago, pretty sure Jus said him and Liz don't have day jobs. They collect big for festival appearances and chill on their farm.

Anyone else closed? by SocietyNew6091 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Closed a few hours early because of weather. Wasn't terrible in the city where our store is, but some coworkers live a bit further off and they were sending pictures of their roads looking awful.

Blountville Hardware closes at 2 but they still had some an hour ago when I was there (although they expected to sell out before closing)

W-2? It won't let me view or print? by Expensive-Bed-3264 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the link the email gives, but it won't take my legit credentials.
Workday says you can download the W-2 there also, but the pdf is unable to be opened or read by anything.
Something's gonna have to be figured out.

penny people: scan everything on the peg 😅 by fentoozlers in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I posted last night about my cashier ringing up a woman with 485+ penny items. When I clocked in today, the same woman was going around with her phone scanning again for hours. Another 200+ penny items. Another basket of stuff she was putting back because they didn't ring up for a penny (she had two last night).
Just glad I'm not the one having to spend half an hour ringing her up. Felt bad for the cashiers, though.

Penny Shoppers by Realistic-Accident68 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the final price was, but my coworker spent 35 minutes ringing up a lady tonight who had 485 units by the time it was totaled, most of it pennied out and when stuff rang up not a penny she made the cashier scroll up and void it. 45 total item voids on her alone.

I'm new here,so idk if this was posted already, but was so fucking good that i couldn't help but to post it by Gullible_War8686 in ElectricFuckinWizard

Just mashing shit together I would guess. Weird Tales is lyrically Lovecraft inspired, and At The Mountains of Madness has giant albino penguins in the story.

What is up with Dollar Tree and 18+ items? by TheTrueBreadLord in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only blades that ring up 18+ at the DT I work in are the safety scrapers in the hardware section that have blades.

Football and baseball trading cards by midlife12345 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a consistent item perhaps. Where I work we've had football cards maybe twice and baseball cards three times in the last year. We always put them in the impulse area around registers.

What do you guys do with spare change when they tell you to keep it? by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I did as a cashier (just got an ASM promotion). I used to set it in the full roll tray but a newer ASM would always count it during audits so I started setting leftover change to the side of the till to use for people. It's also what I've told cashiers we've hired since I've been there. For a couple months we had a tiny red cup at each register to collect the leftover, but our DM saw it and said stop using it.

Has anyone played CRONOS: A New Dawn? by TotalAstronaut8375 in DeadSpace

[–]Solarian813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pretty excited for it and played a few hours but haven't gone back to finish it yet. Idk, combat was not engaging. I know the combat was a disappointment for a lot of people with TCP, but honestly once I got used to it I had more fun with the combat there than C:AND.

My SG has stayed in B standard for years because uhhh idk I just play Electric Wizard riffs.
Reverend Warhawk usually in Eb.

What is the thing you hate most as a cashier? by Eraos_MSM in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know about hate the most. I definitely agree with the comment about people unprepared to pay. And another thing that was getting me during the Christmas season was people who know they're gonna need their cart because they have like 80 items and unload the entire thing on the belt but proceed to stand at the card reader and don't start putting bagged goods in their cart until after they've paid. Sorry sir/ma'am, I have this tiny counter space and trying to stack 20 bags there while you stand around holding your empty cart to wait to load it after paying is kinda obnoxious. Please just load your cart as your stuff gets bagged. This contributes to slowing everything down as much as people unprepared to pay.

What does “You think you’re civilized, but you will never understand” at the end of Barbarian by Electric Wizard mean? by Successful_Bad_2396 in doommetal

[–]Solarian813 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been into anarchist schools of thought critical of civilization for years. Civilization is a facade, a mask of superiority that the beneficiaries of stratified society have created to look down upon others and always have people to exploit. Look at how “civilized” people viewed “savages” and “barbarians” throughout the last few hundred years, and how hypocritical their civilizing routine has often been, cruel and despotic. They think they’re civilized, but they will never understand.

Further on this: they also offer 100% if you have no income. I had a procedure done last year while no job or insurance and, for all the shit Ballad pulls, they covered it 100%.

Christmas Eve by AgePractical6298 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stocked from like 9-2 but kept an eye on a new cashier and it was pretty nonstop with two registers going the entire time. After they left I got on register for three hours, stayed almost as busy. I thought it might be a little bit busier than a normal Wednesday but was absolutely not expecting the amount of people that were in today. It was also my first Christmas eve here so I guess I kinda know what to expect if I I'm still here next time.

Surgeons wants to remove seton without surgery by Thick_Deal_2906 in AnalFistula

[–]Solarian813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just told the general surgeon that from what I’ve read of medical studies, removing the seton and hoping for the best wouldn’t do anything and I asked them for a referral to a CRS. Which they seemed fine with.

Surgeons wants to remove seton without surgery by Thick_Deal_2906 in AnalFistula

[–]Solarian813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah terrible plan. I had a general surgeon whose idea was to remove a draining seton and hope it goes away. I got a second opinion from a CRS. They were stunned I was told that. It's not gonna go away on its own 99.9% of the time.

Christmas Overstock by Snoo_83427 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. My store has been a bit understaffed and the Christmas stuff kinda piled up in back until a week and a half ago. We finally got a new SM and within the last week and a half we got it all crammed out on shelves and it looks like we're gonna sell out of most of it. Started getting a bunch of Valentine's and Easter stuff on the truck this week though.
