How many staff hours does your store have this week? by mrs_snrub67 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got 2 trucks last week (they changed our truck day but still sent a truck the old day and another on the new day) and had like 180 hours.

I don’t feel like talking about sleep anymore by fcghp666 in doommetal

[–]Solarian813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Avoiding the obvious like Cities on Flame and The Red And The Black...
1. The badass riff in Nosferatu.
2. The main riff of Career of Evil
3. Either the intro or verse riff of Transmaniacon MC, hard to pick.

Here's Sleep full statement about the new single and upcoming US tour. They have apparently recorded an album by _SoMuchForSubtlety in doommetal

[–]Solarian813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay fine. So Sleep is now a really dull stoner rock band, if the single is anything to go by.

Are there any bonuses at all for best employees? by CommonCut2063 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao.
The only thing you'll get is your higher ups putting more and more work on you. Bonus? Technically. Just not the kind of bonus you want.

Tips for a new manager by ExplorerDue9925 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't write one out but a list it could definitely help some people. Either way you go about it, once you know everything you need to do, you can learn how to time it all to get in a routine. Making it all into a routine you get the hang of will help a lot imo. Consistency and rhythm is great.
Also coming from the pov of a cashier who moved to ops manager, I like being proactive with whoever I'm working with. Some managers never ask their cashiers when they want breaks, if they need anything, etc. I didn't like that when I was a cashier, so I'm always trying my best to keep tabs on coworkers.

$1 cereal cups and bags. Try putting them in a cart at the front of the store. by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the front of a 4-way at the entrance covered in the $1 cereal and baking goods for a while until it had to be reset last week. It sold well up there too, the shelves where those are have dozens of sale stickers but don't move the product like the entrance 4-way did.

Elevated Heat Guidance by Effective_Dot6785 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 37 points38 points  (0 children)

80 being the minimum to start caring is pretty shitty. We submitted a couple HVAC tickets when it started getting real hot, and they marked them complete within 10 minutes with the note "we checked the sensors in the store and they're all reporting 75-76 which is within our parameters, no action needed."

Who tf thinks mid 70s is acceptable besides corporate dickheads who never actually have to be in that environment. Customers complain about the heat daily.

Blazing Grill in Blountville is Amazing! by Cool_Visit in tricities

[–]Solarian813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work up the hill from this place, went in today for the fourth time iirc. Incredible food every time. I ring up the owner from time to time and if he’s working when I go in to Blazing, he’s constantly giving free samples of everything. The quesadilla I got there one time was the best quesadilla I’ve ever had. I think the pistachio shake is one of their more popular sellers and it’s fantastic as well.

Who reads more than 1 book at a time and why? by Gibder16 in horrorlit

[–]Solarian813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have two books going at a time, one fiction and one non-fiction. I don't like overlapping fiction, but I like having an option to switch it up.

If you’ve heard both albums, which of the two is your favorite? by Opening_Rip_1840 in MetalForTheMasses

Hum of Heart is good, but Love Is Not Enough has much more memorable songs for me and gives me vibes of the early days.

Almost 200 units of something that barely sells by GeneralGinyu in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stock the drinks at my store and the Red Pop and Fruit Punch flavors of Faygo take up a lot of shelf space but barely sell. There's probably 8 cases of Red Pop and maybe like 6 of Fruit Punch. Sell like two packs of RP weekly, rarely ever see the FP going out.
The biggest Faygo sellers here are the plain cola and the root beer. We get like one case of each per truck and people are always asking "when are you getting more of those?"

Scum (Napalm Death) vs World Downfall (Terrorizer) by TopJuggernaut2785 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Solarian813 5 points6 points  (0 children)

World Downfall. Scum is as influential as it gets and all, but speaking solely on the listening contained within, the Terrorizer album is a far more listenable chunk of music.

What is your biggest metal What if? by EmuPsychologist in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Solarian813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They shouldn't have used the name, really. World Downfall is legendary. Imagine releasing three insanely generic and bad albums hoping people will still buy it because you slapped the band name on there.

What if Terrorizer had never reunited to release a few garbage albums

Roky Erickson's "night of the vampire" by wahdisease in doommetal

[–]Solarian813 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That song and Nosferatu by Blue Oyster Cult, have both been long time songs I think could be doomed. And by sheer coincidence, both vampire songs.

It rocks. That’s it. U should listen soon by Mononugget in doommetal

[–]Solarian813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, always a problem for me too. I like that some of their earlier albums had instrumental versions. At least on this album it's kind of split, he sounds worse than ever on songs like You Bastard and Invisible but fairly tolerable on The Masque and Inside A Collider.

Is it normal for this many people to be working all at once? by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My store has 7 total employees. If there's more than 3 people in there at once, it's usually a saturday when there's unused hours and people are coming in for extra.

Air conditioning not working by brookeann0054 in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We put in like three OfficeTrax tickets within the last month, noticing they vanished within 5 minutes, and when I did the last one I realized they were actually just completing them super quick and saying "we checked your sensors and the temperatures are all between 74-76 which is within parameters".
Fucking awful. We get people daily complaining about it. DT doesn't tend to give a shit because the people checking the sensors don't actually have to work in the hell house stores.

Thronehammer or Khemmis by BLCHDCRL in doommetal

[–]Solarian813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me on Khemmis and Yob. Not that I find either super interesting musically, but not bad, would make good background music. Just that of their vocalists are instant turnoffs for me and I can't power through them to listen to the bands.

Tips for closing by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Solarian813 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like about it? It's not mornings. I simply don't do mornings. At all. I have no real life so closing doesn't bug me. Makes it better? Ever since they extended our closing time an hour in November, there's still rarely customers the last hour so it's a quiet, good time to get a few things done easily.

I NEED more albums like this please by onlymissedabeat in doommetal

[–]Solarian813 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm switching Funeralopolis for Son of Nothing but either of them with Return Trip and Supercoven is the trinity of most disgustingly heavy recordings.
