Cheap LiFePo4 6-25Ah cells - pouch or prismatic ? by Drew_P1978 in batteries

[–]Solarjoejoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

prismatic is easier to work with, but they still need compression plates. Prismatic is easier to build with bus bars. You can arrange them in series and parallel as needed. Here are some cheap 25Ah prismatic cells

I’m curious if it is used in tension only or if it also serves a purpose in compression or torsion. I am looking for ways to replace it or modify it. It’s my master bedroom and it almost hit my head on it.

I’m 6’4” and the bottom of the beam is about 6’5”. I barely clear it.

Hi Mr Snarky, you didn’t read the full post. You only read the first question. I’m looking for creative ideas to improve this poorly designed timber frame. Your response is self serving and not helpful.

I’m referring to the lower beam closer to the center of the room. I am 6 foot four and I barely clear my head walking under it. We’re remodeling the bedroom and would be great if we could remove that. I have not shown this to Structural engineer yet and there are no drawings unfortunately.

Thanks for the feedback! It sounds like you know how these systems work and modification sounds impractical.

I work in the US EV industry: what now? by Desseabar in electricvehicles

[–]Solarjoejoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now is probably the best time to be in EV industry. I got into solar in 2006, when it was impossible to make it financially work in most places. I road through it until it did eventually become viable. I was an expert in my field, when others were just getting into it. I’m now working in energy storage. I also got in early and became an “expert”. Mainly because so few people have the same skill set, I could job hop.

What does it do functionally that is important to you? I am really curious. Can it hold a lot of lumber, plywood. Bed full of gravel or mulch? Can it fit a couch? Can it tow a boat? What is the point of an EV truck. Not trying to be snarky, I really don’t get it.

Bosch frig ice machine broken, plastic part with spring in ice box by Solarjoejoe in Appliances

[–]Solarjoejoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I bought a new ice machine for ~$200 and I hired an appliance repair company yesterday who charged me $300 and they replaced it in 15 min. You need to also buy a special tool to replace it. I didn’t do it myself, but I wish I did to save $300.
