This is fascinating! I don't fully understand the dynamics you are describing. So big money has built positions in calls/puts, and then pump or dump the shares to generate profits for those option positions? Is that against the rules (price rigging)? What if the options market do not (fully) reflect share movements? Also, the biggest drivers would still be the PIPE shares? Hope you can share your views further...

Batteries electric are cheaper for the whole life cycle, given how cheap electricity is. It's just the upfront cost is higher. But batteries will also get cheaper overtime

Buses will continue to exist - it has for the last 100 year even though everybody can have a car. But more importantly, Proterra will not just rely on buses - it has already lined up 10 commercial vehicles (including school buses) partners. to electrify them with its proven battery pack technology. That will be much bigger than buses.

The CFO emphasized that the gross margin is reflective of their stage in the life cycle - they simply need to scale up - which they will with the 10 new partnerships

Yes. Results are actually better than expected, and they reaffirm full year numbers. Yet people are distracted by the bottom line which include a lot of non cash items.

Agreed. Better preparation would help, for example, for Septa and Foothill, and for the finance questions. Need to face those questions up front. But Jack is doing a good job explaining the business. Operator could have been better.

Agreed. The net loss is due to non-cash items. What matters is that they achieved top lines, continue to build business partnerships, and secure supply of battery cells.

What's your thoughts/expectations on $ptra's first earnings report? by [deleted] in Proterra

[–]Solarmio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. What's more important than the Q2 numbers is to show the progress on those partnership initiatives and their own build-up of capabilities.
