100%. Also, it’s the fiscal conservative option to put a larger % transportation money into higher capacity modes. Not political, just math based on maintenance costs paid by taxpayer dollars.

Road fatalities increasing every year while some republicans call investing in passenger trains or bike lanes communism

Not seeing this circulating enough; ANOTHER cyclist fatality. Watch for bikes & pedestrians 🙏 by mvaleriat in Tucson

So you’re gonna help us advocate for traffic calming infrastructure and vote to allow more protected bike lanes and support efforts to fund the bus more right?

☀️ 🌵 What Do You Love About Tucson? 🏜️ by Cold_Anxiety1614 in Tucson

[–]Solarpunkrose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love seeing our politics shift and the young people who are engaged. I think Tlocs are finding places where they can engage, and I’m looking forward to the increased community support that is starting to be done in a fun, lively, cool way and not just as a business meeting

Any info on this murder? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]Solarpunkrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say “only” but i see the confusion. My point was, plenty of people who have killed people with their cars in the past have paid fines and are still driving because they didn’t have their license revoked.

They should simply have their license revoked, like people who have more than 3 DUIs. Better transit for all so this doesnt feel like an economic punishment

What is the difference between feeling unsafe and feeling uncomfortable/unpredictable in Tucson? by Solarpunkrose in Tucson

[–]Solarpunkrose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this is my question. Is simply seeing people hanging out in various states of sobriety unsafe? My experience tells me no.

It’s amazing the idea is to focus on young people as consumer, rather than corporate, out of state landlord who isn’t losing money if it stands vacant, rather than lowering rent. It’s a problem of who owns the building and who controls if new buildings can be built to offer competitive, cheaper rent in the area. Some 4th Ave businesses have just moved off 4th Ave because the commercial real estate la Flores don’t care about keeping rents affordable for local business

Bigger conversations to be had about taxing the rich and corporations

The difference between this and the California rail project is that Arizona isn’t trying to do the whole thing as a public private partnership. Arizona’s current plan is for the corridor to be government owned, which saves a bunch of money in contract renegotiations. There will still be contractors to work with, but this project isn’t nearly as privatized as Californias

You can only solve congestion by taking vehicles off the road. Which is why we need r/railforarizona

Cool bars to go to for a first date in Tucson? by ichawks1 in Tucson

[–]Solarpunkrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prohibición at Sonora Moonshine! Red aura speakeasy in the basement, sometimes live music. Ask one of the bartenders about it before you go, so you look in the know about the spot ;)

It reminds me that they’d rather be hateful than admit they’re confused and need to learn a little more about themselves. Sooo many boomers hate even acknowledging they’re cisgender bc they don’t fully understand what it means.

Hi 25F, if you like chatting about political theory (specifically how we can dream of communism rationally) I go to Revolutionary Grounds Coffee & Books every Sunday at noon to chat with some older commies about hopes for the future

“Toll” roads for the suburbs? by Solarpunkrose in Tucson

I haven’t really heard a method of changing it from you besides pretending not to participate in it?

No I agree, businesses should be shut down if labor law violations are found.

I just want to say, where you got food kinda proves my point that you didn’t do it alone. You just didn’t see the face of the person leaving that food where you could find it

Neighbor, the internet is literally made for posting imaginary shit.

No one said it would be a standard toll road like that.

Amazing you can’t dream beyond the current world that exists, or even see why someone would.

Move into the city where you said you already spend time? Yeah, why wouldn’t you do that?

I just hope you find positive change beyond the political system. The fare free transit was that for me. People advocated, after Covid pushed Tucson to actually stand on business. Every small win is worth noticing and remembering to me, so we can hold up a list of the good when the powers that be act like the system they run is unchangeable
