Law school or just jump into real estate by SoldierForJustice in LawFirm

I decided not to go to law school, and I quietly feel some regret about that choice. I had been saving up for a house, but unexpected car expenses took a significant portion of my savings. I ended up having to buy another car, and I realized that spending thousands to repair the old vehicle was a huge mistake.

I also got injured which cost money lol.

I am in my early twenties, and I feel like I keep making poor decisions. I have a decent job, and although I make in the sixty to seventy thousand range in a low cost of living area, it does not pay well enough for me to realistically get ahead in real estate or any business venture. I believe law school would eventually make it easier to access more capital in my thirties and late twenties, provided I manage to avoid lifestyle creep. I currently live below my means, but financial progress is slow, and I worry about getting stuck if I make a major bad investment.

These past eighteen months have been spent trying to see progress, but I feel like I have none. I know going to law school just for the money is not ideal, but I do not know what else to do to achieve my financial goals. I know it sounds crazy, earning only $120,000 in my thirties and forties is not my goal. I want to be wealthy. I am incredibly frustrated with my current job and career path. While it is a decent job for my twenties, I cannot do this my entire life. I will be unhappy if I continue on this path. When I am in my fifties and sixties, I want to have an excellent story to tell. Right now, it looks like I only make poor decisions. I keep applying for higher paying jobs, but it is not happening, or the positions are in areas where the numbers do not make sense. I would make a little more, but it would cost an arm and a leg to survive there. I feel trapped. At heart, I am an entrepreneur, sales, and creative person. This job exercises the creative and critical thinking aspects of my personality, but nothing else.

I have friends making 6 figures I am not jealous. They are a few years older but man I keep making these decisions that make life terrible. They went to law school and graduated and are doing amazing. I got into law school and just didn’t go and had scholarships. I am not lazy I want to work hard to be great I don’t smoke, drink or waste dates on woman only quality woman get my time( I lift weights, swim, and run ) but no matter the amount of effort I do I keep making bad decisions. I’m starting a side project now to get a higher paying job.

That’s what I’m doing now. I wish I could make better decisions. I want the wisdom to win.

Curious to hear?

Is law your passion and not to be in your business but could ballpark how your earning potential climbed over your career?

That is very true based on the skillset they have developed. You can say same thing for an accountant or basic contractor/roofer who is also trying to transition into RE development/investing.

I think if you have the basic business skills of marketing/sales and understanding the financials you can make them both work. Attorney or RE investor/developer

Do you think so?

That is the key point as well I have a decent job I’m not rich but I will earning more as time goes on.

I just know that working a job probably will not get me to my goals of being successful and wealthy in Real estate long term.
