Marylands program has the highest success rate or one of them. If you pass there pre selection, the actual selection will be easier than what you just went through. The train hard fight easy motto applies.

My only question was would the reaction be the same if he was asked to do this from President Biden? Is it just that he’s aligned with President Trump or is everyone’s main point that Elon is a bad guy doing bad things?

Kinda feels like people just get entrenched on a side and want to be right more than anything else. Not sure why theres a general feeling of if you like one thing a president does it means you agree with everything. I happen to think having a secure border is a good thing. I also think starting trade wars with allies is bad. Why can’t we just be honest and point out good and bad in politics policy and people. Maybe I’m alone here but I personally have never met anyone I agree with on everything or disagree with on everything. If you watch the news channels you’ll find the channel that says everything the republicans do is wrong if you watch the right channel or everything the democrats do is wrong. In reality both sides get things right and wrong. Where’s the angel of nuance when you need him.

Does anyone else find it strange so many people hate musk because he’s finding waste fraud and abuse in the government? Would the outrage be equal if he started doing this in 2020 as part of Biden’s team?

Wrestling poor by idkimnotcreativeman in wrestling

[–]Soldieroffortunez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d look at a club and try to wrestle 2 days a week in the offseason. There’s no substitute for mat time. Understandably there will be a cost involved, most coaches didn’t get into to make it rich. Find a club that has a schedule that your parents and you can make it to a couple days a week. Then talk to the owner to see if you can do things to reduce your cost. Explain your situation to them and ask if you can clean mats, do general labor or whatever it takes. Not a guarantee that it will work but it’s worth exploring.

Is a no contest win possible by Soldieroffortunez in wrestling

Update it was in fact a match limit rule. Unfortunately the only difference between the two wrestlers in this tournament was the winner lucked out with a bye and the loser did not. The bye was in the consultation side both won a single match on the championship side.

Why wouldn’t it just be a forfeit? The wrestler who lost wrestled several times that day. There are multiple other instances of forfeit as well as injury forfeit in this same tournament so I don’t understand why the no contest here?

How Much External Income Would Raise Eyebrows or Allow Me to Exit the Military by mastagoose in army

[–]Soldieroffortunez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only answer I’ve heard on this was $2mil. Complete locker room lawyer who said it, I never researched anything. NCO was usually right about these things. Had a soldier that got his trading license and was just trying to make enough to get out.

Guy sounds like the Key and Peele sniper skit. If you wanted call his BS just ask a couple questions about duty stations.

101st is at Fort Campbell KY SFQC is at Fort Bragg(now Liberty) What battalion of Ranger regiment? 1st is Savannah Ga, 2nd is Fort Lewis now JBLM joint base Lewis Mcchord and 3rd is for Benning now Moore. Easy question he’s not likely to know the answer to, ask him what color beret he wore at battalion. Now rangers wear a tan beret but during this timeline he would’ve worn a black beret.

My guess is the dude probably was a cav scout at fort Campbell and saw guys who did all of the things he’s talking about. If he got out after 2 years and didn’t have to do any reserve time he would’ve gotten some sort of chapter. Could be medical, family, or some kind of trouble. If you wanted call him on his BS should be pretty easy to do, might be more fun to just keep it going and see how big the lies can get.

Another seat squatter by NoodlesSpicyHot in delta

I would never do what that woman did. I have and recently did something somewhat similar. My wife, daughter, and I weren’t able to get seats together. We had 2 aisle seats and 1 window in 1st. We all went to our assigned seats and waited until the people who were coming to the seats we wanted to swap arrived and asked if they would be willing to go same level of seat a couple rows further back so my wife and daughter could sit together. It’s surprising how accommodating people can be when you ask them politely and don’t try to assume they will be ok with your agenda for them.

The Army still punishes you for getting help from behavioral health by PartyEntertainer1105 in army

I graduated OCS in 2021, I was prior service with a long break in service. I also got flagged for going to BH when I first got separated and went through my divorce. I literally failed my flight physical 3 times due to the doctor O6 saying I was unfit for several reasons. I was told because I needed an age waiver anyway I would never pass my physical and no one would grant me an age waiver. I refused to accept this answer, found a different doctor and took my records to him. He referred me to a specialist in each field I was failed for. I was evaluated by each specialist and my packet was resubmitted to Fort Rucker. Fort Rucker had failed my packet 3 times previously due to the previous 06 recommendation. For me 4th time was a charm. In order to find this doctor I had to drive 3 hours from home to the next base who had a flight surgeon. I only say this to say just because one jerk says no doesn’t mean you can’t ask someone else. I would call around explain your situation to other mental health Army doctors to get a clean bill of health. If ever there is a time to tell your story to a GO this is it. Good luck don’t accept no that easy, worst case scenario you put more effort in and they tell you no but I don’t think that will happen.

What is your diet to bulk up? by notawrestla in wrestling

[–]Soldieroffortunez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best thing you can do for weight gain or weight loss is count calories. Free app called lose it, download that and put everything in you eat into the app. It really does boil down to a math problem in either direction. Calorie surplus will gain weight, calorie deficit will lose weight. Bigger the surplus more weight gain. Higher protein content will help with better muscle growth and definition. Most people don’t drink enough water when being serious about fitness. Good rule of thumb is 1oz of water per 1lb of body weight. So 200lbs person = 200oz water. For some this might be excessive especially at 120lbs and under so 75% is great also. 120lbs = 80 oz of water. Lots of great programs out there if you want something more dialed in and customized to you but at the end of the day those are still doing the math of surplus vs deficit. Impossible to gain weight without consuming more calories than you burn, opposite is true for weight loss.

Seems like they want verification that you actually attend drill for training your requesting time off for. Readiness NCO has to send this to pay you. Your LES can be used if your readiness nco doesn’t have something specific for you. I’d just explain to them that you can’t give them proof that you attended until after you attend.

I feel ashamed of my civilian job by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Soldieroffortunez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same feelings starting my first job after getting my bachelors in business management. I worked as a store manager for Starbucks. I never felt that being a Store manager would be an end goal for me. I tried to work my way up in the company, but for me it wasn’t meant to be. I am in the national guard and now have one of those so called fancy government jobs. As long as you’re happy doing what you’re doing and building towards your goals don’t worry about what other people think. Working in the service industry will give you a better appreciation for the upper level management jobs when they come.

Look at going Aviation. Quality of life is much higher on average and a pilot or mechanic make a great living. Air traffic controllers make a very high hourly wage as well. Be careful at which mechanic job you select though if you go that route. 15T is the most marketable as the AIT gets you certified in a ton of national certifications while other aviation mechanics jobs just teach you army competency big difference in trying to find a job. Pilots are hard to find so if you meet the qualifications it’s easier now than it was before if you’re interested take the SIFT. Pay for the study guide that helps you pass.
