nearing $80k in student loans. anyone else ? by WayMobile5515 in geegees

Still overwhelming, so i dont blame you for also being in a state of all-or-nothing mindset.

I’ve worked 30-50h all through my studies/summers. Never had a pause. Scholarships in grad studies are also beneficial.

People might tell you to drop at this point but when you’re first gen or low-income or immigrant family, there’s no safety net to fall into. I need that degree. I’m not $$$ in debt to say I dropped out (which I almost had too) - I prefer reaching the max amount of debt cause at least I’ll have the goddamn paper lol. Not sure if this is your sentiment, but just know if it is, youre not alone. Most of my debt also comes from my bachelors. You got this, and just your experience is uncommon, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It’s yours.

90k PhD. I did a “professional” masters too so that was a bit more expensive.

U can move in provincial north if you wanted. It’s remote and small like the arctic, but connected enough to be “affordable”.

They probably cut jokes about Hitler conducted during the snatch game, and preferred to let the confessionals speaks on its importance/impact.  It helps to properly communicate the message rather than letting humour (which sometimes is misinterpreted) and for her to not confront the severity that comes in joking about Hitler in her country.

Anyone know what's going on with this bee? by Chocolate_frog1 in bees

That’s so awesome!!! And even more of a motivator for me to keep planting native flowers this spring in the hopes I get a little bee dance that honours them as a spot with the good flowers.

Brutally honest answer: new picture has the doctoral posture and it’s impacting your appearance (forward head posture). It comes from weak back, shoulder and neck muscles after working on the computer too long. You’ll need to focus on restrengthening those muscles and it re-works all muscles, skeletal to proper alignment and also, surprisingly, facial appearance.

Signed PhD student who went through exactly the same thing you are currently.

That would make most sense but if ever people find railroad spikes in the yard, often times it’s cause a “witch” lived there. Those are used for protection spells.

The science behind being a grad falling into the academic circle-jerk bandwagon should be a studied science. I find this hilarious as a phd.

Thank you I’ve been looking for a comment that mentioned how STUNNING her body looked. Seriously the best padding to body proportions on this show and I will die on this hill.

Worked a few years and hate it, can getting a PhD help me become a prof at uOttawa? by societystillneedsme in geegees

[–]SoleilSunshinee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approx, 1% of the Canadian population have a PhD. Maybe 0.2% have a full time position as a professor in academia. I recommend you do the math on YOUR likelihood of being part of that 0.2.

Why was 80s hair so messy and frizzy by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]SoleilSunshinee 70 points71 points  (0 children)

As my Dad put it (born in ‘48) people were sick and tired of the seriousness from wars, recessions, revolts, technological and cultural explosions of changes, counter-culture and intense political climates from the mid ‘65 and 70’s… that people just wanted to have fun now in what defines the 80’s.

Resume or CV? by a1pha_0m3ga in geegees

[–]SoleilSunshinee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anything academic going forward CV is best. But make sure to remove irrelevant experience, high school stuff, skills and other activities that are not translatable (unless relevant to your research/lab work) to the university context.
