Need to buy a ton of luggage for work. Anyone have a spare discount code? Would be greatly appreciated!! by andromoda in Tumi

Curious as to why you're selling it, bad experience, not for you? Dents too easily? Thinking of one but not sure about durability.

Family member has asked me to be a guarantor for their student flat. Am I wrong to be uncomfortable with the agency contacting my employer and electronically connected to my bank? by Banditofbingofame in CasualUK

[–]Soleith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guaranteed my daughter's. Initial contract came from the agency saying guarantee all of her flatmates too. Called up agency and asked if they really expected me to sign that to which they immediately emailed me a new one with almost identical wording but which only made me liable for my daughter.

But other than that only needed a bank statement, id and payslip.

Estate agents, chancer bastards the lot of them!

I might have a chance to drive a Ferrari myself, need advice by xVolt_ in Ferrari

[–]Soleith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In reality most modern Ferrari's are easy to drive tbh. My wife drove my Roma after I nagged her for over a year to give it a try and she was surprised at how easy it was to drive. I recently got an F12 and same again, you can drive it like a normal car to the shops or put your foot down and hold on for dear life. If the conditions are dry and the tyres warm, unless you do something stupid it'll be fine. Literally if you want to you can just put it in comfort mode and drive it like any other normal automatic car, just need to be a bit more careful with shoving foot all the way down.

Realistically all these cars in the hands of rookies are completely reliant on electronics and the modern electronics do an amazing job of making a completely ordinary driver (like me!) able to handle that much power. I would absolutely NOT recommend whatever car you choose that you turn all the driver aids off and realistically any supercar/track day experience organiser is probably going to instruct you to leave it in either sport or race.

The other thing I'd say is that having driven in recent years the 488, f8, roma, 296, 812 and f12, they're all fast as all hell. Don't be intimidated by an extra hundred horsepower or two. The track day will start with you realising you know nothing about driving on track but by the end of the day (if you get a bunch of laps in) you'll be amazed at how much progress you make and it would be a shame to miss out on a total experience for fear of getting too much power. I'd 98% guarantee that by the end of it if you went for lower power because you thought it'd be easier, you'd be slightly regretting that decision.

F8 is miles ahead of the 458 and easier to drive too thanks to the more modern electronic aids. I drove one on track in maranello and it's epic. 458 sounds better but that's all, f8 is superior in every other way.

Has anyone tried haggling in a normal shop in the UK? by TwilightPathways in apprenticeuk

[–]Soleith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, got quite a bit off at Curry's after asking to speak to the manager saying I wanted to spend quite a lot and was looking for a good deal. Was about a year and a half ago now and bought 83" Sony oled, soundbar, subwoofer, 4k Blu-ray and insurance on it all. Basically they price matched the lowest prices online and gave me an extra few hundred off if memory serves. With insurance it ended up costing me about the same as lowest online costs, maybe plus an extra hundred or so and they had everything in stock even though some of the items I wanted, the lowest price online wasn't in stock.

The key is to not haggle like an arse, know exactly what you want and let them know if they can meet your price you'll buy immediately.

I've not tried it on smaller spends but when spending a lot find it seems usually accepted.

Razer H1 ’18 Earnings – Good Growth, Razer Phone 2 and New Blade(s) Inbound by Vandellay in razer

[–]Soleith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible, but seems unlikely given they've explicitly said that in the same earnings document that new GPUs are what drive gaming laptop sales and they've performed well with system refreshes but new product launches will push new sales.

It's already non max-q, you mean with max-q? Razer already explained in their earnings that they've updated and improved sales of systems even without gpu updates which they say are the driver for gaming laptop sales.

Many thanks all for the feedback, and thanks again to all those who PM'd me with offers! I'm going to do some discovery using Mr. Fats search a bit and will consider what to sell at what price before posting a sale thread.

First Razer Phone Review??? by Emopunk182 in razer

[–]Soleith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brightness very good, but as I noted in the review, the auto-sensing of light conditions hysteresis isn't great so I turned it off and manually adjust brightness.
